I don't see the point in reading this article instead of the GSMArena one tbh, it's just a summary of that

Excited to see these irl numbers, I hope we will see it in fhones available to Europe

pgetsos,
@pgetsos@kbin.social avatar

I have almost never liked any PD phone to be honest

pgetsos,
@pgetsos@kbin.social avatar

I know John from way before he started DSOGaming or english articles. I do not agree that he is particularly clickbaity, nor do I agree that he does 0 reasearch on his articles. I am not reading DSOG often, but I remember a lot of well written and researched articles from him

I really wanted YotaPhone to succeed. Both a normal screen and a very very battery friendly e-ink for reading etc for hours...

pgetsos,
@pgetsos@kbin.social avatar

My only issue with Spotify Wrapped is just how inaccurate it ALWAYS is, comparing it to my Last.fm account

pgetsos,
@pgetsos@kbin.social avatar

While I agree, a keyboard is always included in a phone

pgetsos,
@pgetsos@kbin.social avatar

Super interesting! Would love to check it out in person, and to see how the screen compares to a normal one

pgetsos,
@pgetsos@kbin.social avatar

The city looks amazing. The gameplay looks decent but I'm not sure it would be as addictive as the Sims one...

pgetsos,
@pgetsos@kbin.social avatar

That should become the norm for real...

pgetsos,
@pgetsos@kbin.social avatar

I had the S8+ and moved to an S23 Ultra, the difference is huge to be honest. The S9 surely is better in that regard thanks to the extra gb of RAM, but still you will see a big difference compared to an S24 Ultra (which doesn't mean that you phone isn't perfect for your needs as is)

pgetsos,
@pgetsos@kbin.social avatar

Anxiety sweat make you smell worse than temperature regulation sweat btw. Also try to avoid polyester fabrics. Maybe try merino t-shirts as well

pgetsos,
@pgetsos@kbin.social avatar

They are great for taking your sweat away from your body. The problem is they also get you skin oils as well, which is why the smell a lot more than cotton for example that only holds onto the water part of your sweat

Personally, I love merino wool t-shirts. Try one out, a summer one that is thin

pgetsos,
@pgetsos@kbin.social avatar

Still great way to play it on Android through emulation though!

pgetsos,
@pgetsos@kbin.social avatar

It really is super impressive though. There are only a handful of fabs internationally and I think all of them outside of China use machinery made from 1 company only for advanced processes.

pgetsos,
@pgetsos@kbin.social avatar

Well, then use literally any other app as a gallery?

pgetsos,
@pgetsos@kbin.social avatar

It does not. There are tens of great Open-source gallery apps. There are even some with AI tools, albeit much more basic

Personally, I use Photoprism on my NAS for photo management

pgetsos,
@pgetsos@kbin.social avatar

They didn't take off just because SMS was expensive, but because they offer a much better experience with many more features

pgetsos,
@pgetsos@kbin.social avatar

Since at least 15 years ago, a ton of SMS were included in the contract or add-on packages for your phone, and data were much more expensive comparatively. In my country specifically, unlimited data has only been a thing for 1-2 years, and we have cheap data for less than 5-7 years. But we always had something like 1.500 SMS included in even the cheapest contracts for 10+ years

pgetsos,
@pgetsos@kbin.social avatar

Will fix it in post mentality has changed to Some guy will fix it for free...

pgetsos,
@pgetsos@kbin.social avatar

Good to see companies working together for such things, but that's a weird one at least to me. Neat anyways

Pioneers of Pagonia Closed Beta Has Started. (kbin.social)

Envision Entertainment is sending out emails for the closed beta even if you didnt get a key. I guess they're letting you know its started but at the same time its letting people know they also didnt get a key if they didnt get another email. Bit strange to make people feel excluded I must admit....

pgetsos,
@pgetsos@kbin.social avatar

Sounds promising. I'm a suckered for Knights and Merchants style games so will definitely try it, even if it lacks battles which I would love to have

pgetsos,
@pgetsos@kbin.social avatar

Has performance got any better with recent patches?

pgetsos,
@pgetsos@kbin.social avatar

Java definitely does not suck. There is a reason it runs virtually everywhere, from SIM cards to most servers of the world through Spring

pgetsos,
@pgetsos@kbin.social avatar

Also the native apps look like they are written on Java? Or based on JVM

pgetsos,
@pgetsos@kbin.social avatar

The language has nothing to do with what you describe in your last paragraph. There are a lot of reasons what that was happening, and using Java is not one of them. Just the openess of the OS and how it was written was enough to justify such a difference vs a closed OS with a fraction of the possibilities

Also Android is not using just Java, otherwise you would be able to run any normal Java app without "hacks"

That makes sense. Companies in Greece VERY rarely pay for staff training (and only in technology fields when this happens), the training programs of OAED (Greek ‘Organisation for the Employment of the Workforce') are usually laughably bad, as are the majority of public IEKs (Institutes of Vocational Training), no one wants to invest money in personal improvement when they can barely get by....

Unfortunately, the numbers are very realistic, and very sad...

pgetsos,
@pgetsos@kbin.social avatar

How is performance with modern hardware? Would love to play it again, but I remember having a lot of issues with the PC version a decade ago through steam

pgetsos,
@pgetsos@kbin.social avatar

I really hoped we would get it on Android as well. You may need it just once in your lifetime but it could be a life or death situation

pgetsos,
@pgetsos@kbin.social avatar

Getting lost while hiking is not that extreme though. It could happen to anyone. Or getting in an accident while skiing for example or whatever

pgetsos,
@pgetsos@kbin.social avatar

15 times higher than it should be

pgetsos,
@pgetsos@kbin.social avatar

It (very vaguely) reminds me of one of my all time favs: Knights and Merchants

I really like the concept of having to build a city with defined production lines (e.g. hay to animal farm to tanner to clothes to soldier production), need to feed your people and troops in a tavern, battles etc

pgetsos,
@pgetsos@kbin.social avatar

GPU looks super strong, CPU is decent but behing A17 quite a lot. Wonder if we could see games such as RE:4 Remake like on iOS

pgetsos,
@pgetsos@kbin.social avatar

Never had that issue for apps downloaded from FDroid only

pgetsos,
@pgetsos@kbin.social avatar

Bluetooth is awesome for many things still. And it keeps getting better. Just not better enough to be optimal for high quality audio

pgetsos,
@pgetsos@kbin.social avatar

Looks nice, but for me the efficiency is the most important aspect of these powerful chips. They are already very powerful for most users after all

pgetsos,
@pgetsos@kbin.social avatar

Only real difference nowadays for me is when emulating PS2+ quality games

pgetsos,
@pgetsos@kbin.social avatar

So, wait for a year to fix the issues and get a good discount ala Cyberpunk

pgetsos,
@pgetsos@kbin.social avatar

It has an amazing lore and an amazing world to build on. Please don't fuck this up (as well)

Xiaomi is not under BBK with OPPO, One plus, Vivo

pgetsos,

Congrats on the baby! The first few months are hard, but it will get much better soon!

pgetsos,
@pgetsos@kbin.social avatar

I'm using X-plore for about 15 years now, since Symbian

There's just nothing like it. Super powerful and easy to use

Payday 3's launch is another great advert for not making your game 'always online' (www.rockpapershotgun.com)

You can already guess the third sentence: the servers have been a disaster at launch, with players forced to queue for long periods just to play alone, if they can manage to play at all. It currently sits "Mostly Negative" reviews on Steam - that's 31% positive after almost 19,000 reviews....

pgetsos,
@pgetsos@kbin.social avatar

It's not that they try to reinvent the wheel, it is that they allocate resources for X amount of players that they expect on a daily basis, and on launch they get 5X players. So everything crashes

Godot Engine hits over 50K euros per month in funding (www.gamingonlinux.com)

One of the big winners of the Unity debacle is the free and open source Godot Engine, which has seen its funding soar to a much more impressive level as Unity basically gave them free advertising. Certainly helps that Godot ended up launching their new funding platform on the same day Unity announced their hated Runtime Fee...

Just started lessons myself for it. Looks easy enough for basic gesture like the one I want to do!

pgetsos,
@pgetsos@kbin.social avatar

Lately the Android performance has improved a lot for me. Most games I want have become playable. Pokémon Legends Arceus needs some work though, last time I checked...

pgetsos,
@pgetsos@kbin.social avatar

Trying to 100% Yakuza 0. Maybe I'll start PayDay 3 in a few days but it's buggy right now

Payday 3 review: this co-op crime 'em up has lovely levels, but it won't steal your heart (www.rockpapershotgun.com)

It's been a clear decade since the last entry in this co-op crimeathon FPS series, so I was interested to play Payday 3. Payday is exactly the sort of online multiplayer I can get behind: PvE with clear but theoretically malleable goals (theft!). But although compared to Crime Boss: Rockay City it's a crushing 60st monster truck...

I loved PD2 and was hoping for something better from PD3. I will try it 100% but don't expect to love it either

Stadia's death spiral, according to the Google employee in charge of mopping up after its murder (www.pcgamer.com)

A statement from a Google employee, Dov Zimring, has been released as a part of the FTC vs Microsoft court case (via 9to5Google). Only minorly redacted, the statement gives us a run down of Google's position leading up to Stadia's closure and why, ultimately, Stadia was in a death spiral long before its actual demise....

pgetsos,
@pgetsos@kbin.social avatar

I doubt it, cause Google so it would be killed eventually anyway. But it would have been MUCH better
