@adamvolle@meshell@bookstodon the print on the final page of the main body of text is a perfectly chosen one for Schama’s point. I laughed. I might even buy the hardcover just to get a clean image of it to get printed larger. I hope you enjoy it. For me it was transformative and opened up huge worlds.
Happy New #Murderbot Day to all who observe. I preordered it on libro so it was waiting for me when I woke up this morning and I got to listen to a bit of it. Excited to finish the rest later today :)
A thing I like to do is pre-order books months in advance and then completely forget I did that.
Then I have a happy little surprise delivery of one of my favourite things. Thanks Past Me!
The only problem is sometimes the forgetting is so successful that I buy another copy of the same book by accident.
Usually only if I happen to walk into a store around the time of the release date. Or if there is a launch event, but still. It's a little silly.
I have enjoyed many fantastic Pride and Prejudice retellings this year.
Most recently (i.e. yesterday)
Mr. Darcy's Enchantment: A Pride & Prejudice Variation by @AbigailReynolds
A fantasy Pride and Prejudice world with Fae, magic, scandal, twists and turns, action, villains, grand loves, and all the yearning you could want. Absolutely loved it.
I also loved how long it was - I finish books so quickly and this had a story I could really sink my teeth into.
