Right now? roommates. I guess I’ll just be my dad and stepmother’s caretakers and move in with them in a few decades? I mean, I’d prefer a revolution or two, but I just feel there’s no way that’s happening.

Since I got started with my CompTIA Security+ studies, I thought it’d be fun to look around for hacking simulators to try and reinforce some of the concepts I’m learning. So I’ve been playing HackNet & HackMUD. I’ve also been playing the open beta for Hawked (Fortnite looking extraction shooter).

This is all I’ve been trying to get across, y’all won’t be able to enjoy your sync if the admins can’t pay for the servers. Seek out your home instance’s donation links and come up out them pockets like y’all did for Lawrence. This applies to everyone else too, but since I can clearly see sync users commenting that they paid to remove ads or for lifetime access to upcoming features(like posting), I know they have the money 😂

As far as .World goes, their lowest Patreon sub is $1 a month.

The only reason I keep coming back to this thread is to point the sync users towards donating, but they just keep talking about sync prices as if that’s keeping their home instance up and running. There appears to be a real lack in reading comprehension or perhaps it’s just ignorance to how lemmy works / how to support the platform. Either way, I’m here to help.

Yes, and if you want Lemmy to thrive, donate to your home instance admins and the Lemmy devs (read: not the same as an app developer) if possible.

It’s discussed on a regular basis, most admins are very transparent about their expenses. You would just need to go look at your home instance’s community page and do a little light reading.

They think its about the app itself and not about a reminder that if lemmy instances aren’t funded, Sync will be desolate. Which will mean that the $5.00-$1xx they may or may not spend on Sync would be for an effectively dead app.

I was focused on “things like sync are needed for lemmy to thrive”, lemmy can’t thrive if the servers aren’t covered financially.

Nobody made a fuss, because there’s a larger amount of folks not using safari than folks that are, so safari wouldn’t be able to pull off “block your browser if you’re using an ad blocker” the way chrome could, if/when they want. Because safari would only be screwing over apple users.

I’m really just disappointed nobody found “Lemmy J Fry” funny. That had me cracking up before I went to sleep last night. Either way, I feel less… passionate about the subject after a good night’s sleep. Spend money, don’t spend money, doesn’t matter either way as long as you’re here. Now, the moment I hear about awards or ads on Lemmy instances, imma be back on my bullshit, and I hope some of you will join in 🙂
