At Barber’s Hole for Frances sheer green pools and the river strong and clear tumbling over rock and ledge on sandstone shelves quiet on rocky shore sun worshippers bronze children dabble in shallows while intrepid adventurers leap from boulder to boulder launch into pillows of foam float and bump, buoyed by currents treachery lurks, not far from the surface perched above, on the path a plaque and lifesaving ring dedicated to a young friend held, too long, in a watery grasp

Rolling Pin by Janis La Couvée I was six when Jack Cross a logger at Kennedy Lake Camp looking to alleviate his winter boredom fashioned a rolling pin out of cherry wood gifted it to me what was a six year old to do with a rolling pin yet here it is, over sixty years later countless pies, tourtières, biscuits and cookies shaped with love recalcitrant pastry coaxed into tins hoping for a flaky crust juices abundant sealed in without overflowing edges golden brown sugar cookies decorated lavishly by small hands lofty biscuits with a tender crumb the scent of tradition tracing back through mother, grandmother and favourite aunt my kitchen treasure
Behind the Antique Backstory for Rolling Pin circa 1960 Rolling pin fashioned by a West Coast logger in his spare time. He lived at Kennedy Lake Camp (near Ucluelet) and in the evenings, worked on various woodworking projects to keep him busy. My father worked with him, and one day he gifted me this rolling pin, along with a meat tenderizer and a salad spoon. Although the meat tenderizer and salad spoon are long gone, I still use the rolling pin on a regular basis-it’s been my constant kitchen companion for over 60 years. - Janis La Couvée

I was fortunate, early in my online broadcasting life as a poet and writer, to learn that my tweets and posts and tiny ramblings, were considered as "published" by most journals.
