Chrome, and browsers based on it, currently account for more than three quarters of web traffic. This gives Google a huge amount of power over the web and how people are able to interact with it. Google is also a company who’s primary business is advertising and surveillance; this means they have every incentive to curtail your ability to stop websites from spying on you and force you to use the web on their terms. I only noticed three small mistakes.

Communities in Lemmy are only federated if a user is subscribes to them from external instance.

This should be ‘subscribed’ and ‘an external instance’.

I think mods (including me) wouldn’t to put effort into a new community

    I’m from the UK and I was definitely taught to use the genderless he in formal writing, I remember my teacher commenting on how sexist it was.

    Also, no idea where you got the idea that the singular they is only a hundred years old, Oxford puts the earliest use of it to the fifteenth century.

    Its brush engine is kinda bad though. You basically have to turn on “Zero pressure at both ends” and put the stabiliser up to like 15 to get anything usable. Not sure I can recommend it.

    It’s main advantage, as far as I can tell, is having a much simpler interface. It’s snapping tools are trivial to use and discover, but far less robust than Krita’s assistant tool. It’s easier to add brushes, but you have far less options in configuring them. I don’t thinks there’s anything that Firealpaca can do that’s partially hard to do in Krita. Also, Firealpaca doesn’t have a dark mode.

    I’m not an experienced artist though, so take my opinion with a grain of salt.

    A better solution is a curated list of tags users can attach to their posts.

    I understand some communities wouldn’t want unrestricted tags, but it’d be nice if this was an option they could configure. It’d be annoying for say a gaming community to have to add a tag for every game ever, or a music comm every band ever.

    Pretty good. I haven’t had to play around with proton launch options in a good while, Valve and the Heroic team have done a good job making it all plug and play. I don’t generally play the latest releases and am not really interested in multiplayer though, so YMMV.

    On Linux there are two display server protocols, the very old X11 and the newer Wayland, which was designed as a successor to X11 by its maintainers.
