exploding_whale,

Perhaps some evidence there still is some life in the onion, even if its been sitting in the pantry a little too long and starting to look a little sketchy.

exploding_whale,

Ground level ozone and the ozone hole are two different issues. The delayed EPA regulations would be limiting ozone produced. At ground level, ozone has various health hazards. The ozone hole is from ozone depleting substances reaching high altitude in the environment and destroying naturally occurring ozone. That high elevation ozone blocks UV light from the sun, and is protective for those of us who dislike skin cancer it what not.

exploding_whale,

Well that’s a throwback. Not sure I care for this particular reboot of my childhood media.

exploding_whale,

Probably one of those times I need to lament the current state of journalism that that was included. I’d argue the ozone layer is one where there is global political momentum with an example of some recent mystery emissions such as this article. That said this article we were already discussing seems to bring up some other mechanisms for the hole enlarging beyond the usual ozone depleting substances.

exploding_whale,

Its a seasonal issue at both poles.

exploding_whale,

Last I heard those emissions had starting going back down. Was there anything new on that front since then?

exploding_whale,

To be fair, some of the confusion here is from reading the article, or at least skipping to the end.

Exploring the available CAD software (faulty.equipment)

Hey there! As a 3D printer addict I do a lot of small parts in CAD to print and use around the house. Lately I’ve been exploring all sorts of CAD software since finding out there’s a more around than just Fusion360 and Onshape so I started exploring what’s out there and jotting down my impressions....

exploding_whale,

I generally settled on Fusion360, but Alibre Atom was promising aside from some system stability issues on my desktop. I really wanted to like freeCAD, but I just didn’t have the time to invest in learning its quirks.

exploding_whale,

I got the impression they probably would especially fall when they seem to do some heavy sales promotions.

exploding_whale,

If that were true, the tweakers would have a thriving space program by now.

exploding_whale,

Any way we can combine the two and make a flaming pitchfork? Maybe a knife-wrench kinda configuration?

exploding_whale,

Waddams? Milton showed up to work though. In the Employed:paid:present triangle this was a different point missing, maybe a second point depending on how paid admin leave is technically classified.

exploding_whale,

I’m a little curious how they stop it.

exploding_whale,

True but, but Trump is not in office, and hopefully will remain that way.

exploding_whale,

I suppose he could put his money where his mouth is and start cutting his own employees to teach us all a lesson.

exploding_whale,

Or they found an alternatice source. Probably got access to.the NSA’s sharepoimt site.

Elon Musk seen as working counter to U.S. interests in dealings with Russia, China (youtu.be)

Elon Musk's financial interests put him in a position of having his own personal foreign policy, but new reporting shows that whether it's manufacturing in China or the Starlink network being used in Ukraine, Musk’s decisions can run counter to stated US policy.

exploding_whale,

The irony of this is FDR wasn’t exactly lacking in wealth or at least access to it at any point in his life.

exploding_whale,

Pretty sure doubles are legal in most states and triples are legal in a number of states as well. I don’t see any length increase details in the article, though it does mention longer trucks. The only specific mentioned is higher gross weight.

exploding_whale,

It is incredibly fucked, iits just not a celebrity/wealthy thing. It’s a human failing.

exploding_whale,

Not sure the feral nazi population has really changed from last year.

exploding_whale,

Tom makes enough money to take his thetan levels seriously. Doesn’t look like Danny boy’ll be that bankable of a star going forward.

Pennsylvania inmate escaped by crab-walking up a prison wall, video shows (www.npr.org)

A murderer made a brazen escape from a suburban Philadelphia jail yard by scaling a wall, climbing over razor wire and jumping from a roof in a breakout that wasn’t detected by guards for a full hour, authorities said Wednesday as the killer eluded a widening manhunt for a seventh day....

exploding_whale,

Very much so. Also, I’m not sure if I’m just old or if 2011 really wasn’t that long ago. I’d really like to see wild salmon numbers more like 1811.

exploding_whale,

It probably just raises further ethical questions.

exploding_whale,

Isn’t that kinda always the case with a plane?

exploding_whale,

“because it is there”

exploding_whale,

Mallory. Take from that what you will.

exploding_whale,

Politics is often just projection.

exploding_whale,

Rent control leading to famously affordable rents in New York and San Fransisco.

exploding_whale,

“tHatS noT rEaL ReNt coNtRoL.”

exploding_whale,

Have they? I feel like I see more low cost options than years ago.

exploding_whale,

Might be worth trying a plastidip or some sort of urethane or rubberized coating on the inside. And the a big rubberband tire on the rollers That would make it last longer and be repairable.

exploding_whale,

Aside from that one tiny cheap toy in the sears catalog backnin the day, my recollection was starting price was around $250 for any tumbler(dad was considering them for years is the only reason I have any recollection). The $52 Harbor freight option is an impressive deal especially considering a few decades of inflation. I’m not say they were ever affordable toys, just that they are more affordable than they used to be. Size is a pretty big limitation on most readily available ones below the $500 mark.

exploding_whale,

I think print one and apply a castable coating like urethane or maybe plastigip to the inside could be pretty long lasting.

exploding_whale,

I think nylon does well with sliding friction, but have some concerns about whether it would hold up well to the kind of sharp edges you tend to have with abrasive media. That’s from some observation on both commercial rock tumblers, industrial ball mills, and abrasive blasting equipment. I won’t say I know enough from experience to say it will work for sure though.

exploding_whale,

Now that you mentioned it, I have a toddler and a cocktail shaker already. I’ll slap some ducktape on the lid and hope to contain some disaster.

exploding_whale,

Or just give them more racist connections.

exploding_whale,

You’d figure they’d have that 10.5" axle down by now considering its barely changed in decades.

exploding_whale,

So do I and I realize that, but I’m going to give Ford shit when I can. They have been making basically that axle with little variation and few issues since the late 90’s and not much changed from the 10.25 in the 80’s.

exploding_whale,

Doubly so for any headline predicting a financial crisis of any sort.

exploding_whale,

You want a some DNA? I can get you a some DNA, believe me. There are ways, Dude.

exploding_whale,

My concern is more the possibility of defining disinformation in some politically conveniemt manner. Will this be some despots minitru?

exploding_whale,

Its always happening, but the tools available evolve and the level of support fluctuates. We have a lot of new tools right now and what seems like a disturbing level of support.

exploding_whale,

I have been very happy with some Wells Lamont Hydrahide gloves for longevity.

Any mechanix type gloves I’ve tried have been disappointing.

exploding_whale,

What about the hurricanes emails‽
