Yet another Reddit refugee from the great 3rd party app purge of 2023. This account is mostly for learning how Lemmy works and may be purged once I get around to hosting my own instance.
Obligatory fuck /u/Spez.

The Coup of /r/AssholeDesign (imgur.com)
Over on Reddit, /r/AssholeDesign was taken over by a moderator that had been radio silent for over two years. The linked Imgur album contains modmail screenshots and our entire conversation after calling them out for this betrayal.

Does anyone else feel extremely annoyed when things are even slightly imperfect?
Specifically about technology, like are bugs on your device's OS, a program, app or game having issues, or a website/platform....
I need to survive for 3 days while pooping as much as possible. I can pee as often as I like. It can take up loads of space. What food do I pack?
Please don’t ask why I need this....

Tactical shooters
What are some cool tactical shooters? I know that Linux has some good shooters like Xonotic, but I would like something more tactical like Arma, Rainbow Six Siege or CS:GO. It doesnt have to be open source altho this is a big plus. I know about AssaultCube and Urban Terror, but they seem unmaintained/dead.

Selfhosting on an old laptop
I’m currently running homebridge and pihole from an older Lenovo (i5, 256 SSD, 8GB ram) laptop (tweaked power settings to allow idle when closed) hardwired into a switch. I am currently running Ubuntu Server LTS, and have uptime ~2 weeks. I’m a little worried about reliability, I was originally using Ubuntu Desktop LTS, and...
How do we feel about Meta joining the Fediverse?
Personally, I want nothing to do with them and I’m not willing to give them the benefit of the doubt. I moved to the Fediverse to get away from all these corpos.
No, really, how is you doing? (lemmy.one)
Running a small Lemmy instance on Pine64, is it recommended?
I am not looking to onboard thousands of users or host large communities, just my own and some family and close friends’ accounts. I don’t currently have a scalable homeserver setup (just a local Home Assistant instance on a Pi) and don’t have the space to put an old desktop running Proxmox on a cable....
Reddit Blackout: Top subreddits pledge revolt will “continue indefinitely” - Dexerto (www.dexerto.com)
The Reddit blackout made it to PBS Newshour! (www.pbs.org)
I'm going back to the basics this summer. Minecraft.
This has been the year(s?) of absolutely craptastic releases. I’ve been incredibly busy in college for quite a while, only half-assedly following most of them, but following them close enough to see just about everyone gripe about the terrible state of polish things are being released in for both consoles and PC....
So, what do you think about Lemmy/kbin so far?
I found it complicated at first (didn’t know which instance “will last”, where to register to not lose anything when instance admin decide to turn it down), but now it’s going good. We are missing mobile apps though....
What's the stupidest way you've ever injured yourself?

Berty Messenger, a Cross-Platform Open Source Decentralized Messaging App That Can Work Offline Over Bluetooth (berty.tech)
Has anyone here tried the Berty Messenger app? It’s a cross-platform encrypted messenger with the ability to communicate over Bluetooth. I’m really impressed with how capable it is already, but wouldn’t rely on it for anything too sensitive in it’s early state. To me, it looks like a great way to send offline messages in...
