colforge,

It’s funny how much this comment mirrors the experience of LGBT people left and right. Do you think it’s not awkward for a lesbian to “have to straight up reject” their male “friends” who come on to them? Or gay men and their female “friends”, or asexuals and literally anyone.

colforge,

I certainly don’t mean to shame you for what seems to be a desire to play the game without being propositioned for sex at all. That seems to me to be a completely different thing than wanting to remove a particular sexuality from the game but leaving others intact.

colforge,

If I’m not paid for ALL the time I am required to be on-site and available to my employer (including for security purposes), I’m finding another job asap. Don’t give your time away without being compensated for it.

colforge,

It’s not even 8:30 AM and the internet has already made me feel old. Brb gotta go take my medication for my back pain and queue up some techno on WinAmp.

colforge,

And I still never saw the way the orange slayed the rake!

colforge,

For me it’s rarely about the hard numbers and more about the lineage of the strains, the reputation of the growers, and the reviews of other cannabis users. I like to cross reference resources like Wikileaks, Leafly, Weedmaps, and local reviews to narrow in on strains that help me.

If I walk into a store and can talk to the budtender about what I’m looking for in a product and what I’m using it to treat and they recommend a strain or two I already know works for me, I’m much more likely to listen to their other recommendations I haven’t tried than those of someone who doesn’t. Over just the last few months of being a licensed patient in Oklahoma, I’ve found 3 different dispensaries I’ll go to for recommendations because they’ve been consistently on point.

And at all 3 of those independent locations, they tell me not to look at the THC but at the terpene profiles. I find that the presence of Caryophyllene and Limonene and Myrcene are all great indicators that a particular strain will be good for my needs.

colforge,

You are fairly spot on with your assessment of me. It may all be gobbledygook and placebo but I’ve found that bud that is heavy in the Caryophyllene is very effective at helping reduce pain and inflammation when I’m dealing with a flare up of an as yet undiagnosed gastrointestinal issue, allowing me to function under conditions that would otherwise leave me huddled in agony on the toilet all day. The limonene heavy strains are great for jogging me out of depression induced apathy, and yeah the myrcene does great knocking me out when I’m having trouble staying asleep.

colforge,

Thanks for the tips! I’m very grateful for how cannabis interacts with my brain chemistry. I am predispositioned to stress induced anxiety and panic attacks and consuming pretty much any flower that isn’t absolute garbage will at the very least “take the edge off” and the act of preparing and smoking the flower provides an excellent opportunity for relaxation and bringing the stress levels down before even taking the effects of the weed itself into account. I’ll definitely have to start looking out for good Humulene and CBG heavy strains.

colforge,

Most of the disabled stalls I’ve encountered (at least in the US) are within the gendered bathrooms. So even if the stall is nominally gender neutral one first has to enter the men’s room or women’s room.

colforge,

Yeah here in the good ol (hahahaha) USA most establishments have a separate “restroom” for men and women which consist of a row of sinks for washing up and a number of stalls for toilets (and urinals in men’s rooms of course).

Sometimes the urinals are just in a row on the wall with no dividers between. But there’s usually one or two disabled stalls as well, although they’re not locked in any way.

Is this a European car thing or a driver skill issue? As an American I’ve never had a problem maintaining slow speeds in any vehicle I’ve driven - manual or automatic.

Edit: I am starting to realize that some drivers are startlingly dependent on cruise control to maintain a target speed.

colforge,

Are these newer models or in poor condition or something? I’ve driven well maintained older Prius, Civic, and Accord vehicles without these issues and I LOVED how the Civic handled all around.

colforge,

Yup it is a skill and one that studies show people tend to overestimate their abilities with. All the more reason to invest as a society in alternative transportation and heavily cut down on the overall number of drivers behind the wheel.

colforge,

They’re equating a piece of clothing with its use by autocratic regimes to oppress women, while conveniently ignoring the fact that outside of those autocratic regimes, in the most progressive countries in the world women choose to wear burqas and other similar articles of clothing of their own free will every day.

And I’m saying this as an atheist American. I see absolutely no difference between a woman choosing to wear a burqa or to wear the attire of a catholic nun or to wear a potato sack. What she chooses to wear is her own damn business.

colforge,

Sure and everyone in all the social circles I grew up in have shunned me for giving up my faith. The government banning me from choosing to wear a cross necklace wouldn’t change that or give me any more freedom of choice.

colforge,

My point was more that more oppression is not the answer to oppression.

colforge,

Removing the freedom of choice is textbook oppression but ok.

colforge,

I don’t deny that. But I posit that it matters not whether it’s a religion or a legislating body, telling women what they can or cannot wear is wrong and it is oppressive. If one must resort to the same tactics as the oppressors, what makes them any better?

colforge,

I’m not positive but it might be due to the steps the Lemm.ee admin is taking to combat the CSAM uploads that have been happening and prevent the server’s administration team from being liable for potentially harmful and illegal images being hosted on their server.

colforge,

Nah I want an American flag that shoots bullets, man!

colforge,

And the bullets shoot recursion!

colforge,

Yes! I was so happy with the budtender’s recommendations and both of these strains are very tasty and pleasant. And thank you, may your buds always be the dankest!

colforge,

Yeah I couldn’t find any information about it online so I’m not sure if it’s a new cross of something else or what. But it’s got a gassy and citrusy scent and taste.

colforge,

You know they wouldn’t get paid if nobody watched the ads. And if they didn’t get paid they wouldn’t have any reason to pay to run the site. Explaining that a corporation will not run a site like YouTube for free (which it wouldn’t even be, it costs a lot of money to run) if they weren’t getting paid. Quit attacking other users simply for pointing out facts. It’s beneath you (I think)

colforge,

I never said that Google is on the verge of collapse, nor did I defend them. I merely stated that Google is a corporation, driven by profit, and expecting Google to act in the interest of anything but their own profits is a fool’s fantasy. Quit putting words in people’s mouths. It’s unbecoming of anyone that wants to have a legitimate discussion and it’s just toxic.

colforge,

Triple my salary would be my minimum requirement to offset the additional freedom and lack of commute that I’d have to give up. I’d be spending less time with my family and I won’t give that up for anything less than triple my current pay.

colforge,

There’s a church across the street from my home in a small rural town in Oklahoma. It sits completely empty except for about 90 minutes from 11:00 AM to 12:30 PM when about 6 cars pull up into the parking lot and maybe 15 people saunter in for Sunday service after ringing a loud bell announcing to the whole neighborhood. None of these attendees live in the neighborhood I might add.

There are literally dozens of other churches just like it throughout the town. It blows my mind that a religion that claims to be about spreading the love of their savior and saving as many people as possible from literal damnation would let a resource like that go unused. They could have volunteers there every day of the week helping to improve the community and help people in need but they couldn’t care less.

colforge,

Rule #1: Hands off the ball.

colforge,

I roll entirely by hand because I could never get enough of a success rate with those things so I definitely agree it takes skill to do. Just a slightly different set of skills that I don’t take to as well as freehand rolling.

colforge,

I can’t get enough of Infected Mushroom. I was lucky enough to attend a set of theirs at a club in Orlando in December 2019. It was an amazing night.

colforge,

I definitely get that. I’m autistic as well but I had a great group of friends that I went with who did a great job making me feel comfortable in the club. Plus I got to hear the first half of Ani Mevushal live before it was released which was dope.

colforge,

It really was such an amazing time and I am definitely lucky to have had it. My only regret was not hearing any tracks off my favorite album (Converting Vegetarians II) but I can’t fault them because that would’ve been impossible to work into the rest of their set which was comprised of full on psytrance.

Yup! Those websites are the instances which are the infrastructure and interface by which you can access communities - each of which is hosted on a specific instance. An instance is essentially the collection of all the communities it hosts and all of the users signed up through that instance.

colforge, (edited )

Browsing All shows posts from all communities that have previously been interacted with by a user from your own instance. So if someone from Lemmy.fmhy.ml subscribes to an obscure community on some other instance, that community is added to your All view, but it wouldn’t show up before then.

colforge,

My musical tastes vary from rock and it’s many subgenres and off shoots to dozens of genres of EDM (mainly Progressive House, Trance, Techno, Psytrance, Dubstep, and Drum & Bass). I have a Spotify library exceeding 12k tracks.

Some of my favorite acts in no particular order include The Offspring, Rise Against, Pearl Jam, Ghost, Led Zeppelin, Iron Maiden, Avenged Sevenfold, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Breaking Benjamin, Billy Talent, Linkin Park, Paramore, Deadmau5, Feed Me, Kill The Noise, Liquid Stranger, Dance With The Dead, Ghostland Observatory, Rezz, Eric Prydz, Infected Mushroom, Heatbeat, Death On The Balcony, Hernan Cattaneo, and Lee Burridge just to name a few.
