Yep, this was at the Briarwood Ave location

canthidium,
@canthidium@lemmy.world avatar

10639 E Briarwood Ave is the one I go to. But there’s another location as well I’ve never been to that one, though.

Oh nice! Beef tips and rice is a pretty common meal in the southern US. Maybe even across the US.

Mythbusters debunked this, although they used a football field sized sheet and forklifts, but they were able to fold it 11 times. The myth they tested was 7 times being impossible.

Well that’s strange. I thought I cross posted it from !recipes. Oh well anyway, I didn’t really use a recipe. Just mixed some miso paste, soy sauce, sesame oil and a little maple syrup and let the salmon marinade overnight. And the I cooked it in my air fryer and glazed near the end of cooking.

The stir fry was just green beans, mushrooms, and baby corn fried in a wok with a soy garlic butter sauce. Just minced garlic, soy sauce and a lot of butter. Also msg and onion powder.

It’s got such an interesting origin. If you have a Korean or Asian store around you, definitely try to find the Nong Shim Army Stew Instant Ramyun. It’s great and you can just add stuff to it for a quick and easy meal.

@canthidium@lemmy.world avatar

Oh, it’s just the instant packets like Shin or Neoguri, or the millions of others, lol. But the Korean Army Stew one has beans, little fake spam things, and some other stuff. I still usually add a slice of cheese, egg and sometimes some extra real spam. But yeah, making it from scratch is still pretty easy as well. But sometimes having a quick and easy meal is needed and the instant version is still really good.

How are you dealing with pet food?

I buy a few kilos of dog biscuits at a time and at the moment we keep them in the bag in the garage, and decant enough for a week into a plastic kitchen tub. I’m worried about rats attacking what’s in the garage, so I suspect I want some kind of hard plastic tub, but I’m concerned about it being too big and awkward to...

I have an incredibly over-engineered 3D printed solution that dispenses from a huge container into individual automatic feeders for each of my dogs so I only have to keep the big container topped off. This is the container, though.

This is what I have, but I have the 40lb version. It has an angled next for easier access I guess. There’s a 60lb version too. I also do the same as you but with Amazon Subscribe and Save. I get a back every month and I usually have about a 3 day supply left when a new bag shows up.

I love that gochujang has taken off like Sriracha. Been eating it all my life.

Awesome! Korean food is so delicious. I grew up eating it and I’m so glad it’s become known worldwide more.

OMG that bread looks amazing.

I’ve seen Lucy on cats and WILTY a bunch and she comes off way stranger on Taskmaster.

I’ve started seeing it at random places recently, but they are usually these trendy type places. For instance, there’s a pie place here called 3.14 pie bar that does sweet pies and savory pot pies. They have poutine on the menu.

canthidium,
@canthidium@lemmy.world avatar

I’ve also got a burger place by me in Colorado that does a great poutine.

Can you say where? I’m in Colorado as well.

canthidium,
@canthidium@lemmy.world avatar

It’s an absolute mess but I would tear that up.

canthidium,
@canthidium@lemmy.world avatar

Oh nice, thanks!

I haven’t heard anything about this but it looks interesting. Highly rated and I love both these actors. Glad to see Julia Garner getting work after Ozark.

It blows my mind. I did a triple take when I was making the post when I saw the RT score. It’s since gone up to 19% but I still can’t believe so many critics hated it. This from the director of Lion (2016) as well.

canthidium,
@canthidium@lemmy.world avatar

Same, I’m surprised the one here didn’t take off. Just took it over so hopefully it does this time.

Oh this would be cool to have multiple shelves with hangers for more storage for smaller things too. Hmm, looks like a trip to IKEA is in order.

canthidium,
@canthidium@lemmy.world avatar

Oh yes, that’s what I mean, a bar below each shelf in a closet or pantry. Would allow you to put things on the “wall” as well as the shelves

canthidium,
@canthidium@lemmy.world avatar

Thank you for the detailed comment. Our system’s shelves would be very hard for a child to pull down. They are very secure and can hold a lot of weight. I find it very interesting what has been adopted across the world and what hasn’t.

Did anyone see No One Will Save You? (www.heavenofhorror.com)

This completely slipped under my radar until the other day I was listening to a movie podcast and they were praising it. This was really good and original. It’s a PG-13 horror, but that didn’t matter at all. Not gory at all, but full of suspense and interesting scenes. Kaitlyn Denver puts in a strong performance, despite...

Lol, I don’t know what the point of asking how to do spoiler tags when you just used Reddit’s version anyway, which doesn’t work here.

That being said. I loved the tractor beams as well, especially the red one on the ceiling. Yeah, they don’t really explain the parasites motivations, but it still worked for me.

Finally got around to seeing this. Oh man, this movie bummed me out. It had so much potential and the premise is super interesting. JDW and the child actor (Madeleine Yuna Voyles) especially were amazing. But this is another Gareth Edwards movie that is stunning visually, but just falls apart in the narrative. There is no gray in this movie at all, just completely black and white. The Avatar comparisons are apt, especially during the third act.

And the complaints about how America are portrayed are just lame. Look, if you are American (I am) and you still can’t see that America’s actions around the world are hurting a lot of people and their countries, then you really need to look at our history and open your mind because yes, America is bad to a lot of people in the world. There’s a lot of Vietnam imagery in this movie and yeah it’s probably there to parallel America screwing over other civilizations. But that happened, it’s not just a story. Movies sometimes point the finger at our society and the evil in there. If you can only look at America as this savior that can do no wrong, I really don’t know what to tell you.

Anyway, back to the rest of the movie. It felt so surface level and muddled. So much just didn’t make sense. The “weapon” being this child just felt like manipulation so you feel for her. There was no reason, narratively, that it needed to be a child besides to make it this lone wolf and cub story. The whole last act just fell apart for me. Nothing made sense. The military were just inept trying to catch JDW and the child.

The only saving grace of this movie was the visuals. It was absolutely beautiful. The city parts felt like a live action Cyberpunk. You could feel the influence of Blade Runner, Aliens, Avatar. Even The Golden Child to some extent. I was really into it the first half, but by the end I was just so bummed at what a missed opportunity this film is.
