So . . . they are transported to some sort of holodeck that simulates all these game scenarios. And the players rolling the dice decide how the players travel through the scenarios. And this was a couple years before Jumanji.

(watching TNG's "Gambit, Part 2")

That was a good scene in the Captain's ready room with Data and Worf. Data was dissatisfied with Worf questioning his orders in front of the crew. Data was firm with his expectations, provided his reasons why Worf was not meeting them and offered to reassign him to Tactical.
