azerial,

AntennaPod (Easy-to-use, flexible and open-source podcast manager and player) f-droid.org/packages/de.danoeh.antennapod/

edit: just now trying the app. Really awesome, better than the thing I’m currently using. Thanks for the suggestion!

azerial,

Most, if not all podcasts are just an rss feed to a url. The application consumes that xml and delivers it to you as icons for you to listen to.

azerial, (edited )

As a 15 year long editor to Wikipedia, this comment is exactly how i feel and it’s hilarious.

edit: my God i just waisted 2 minutes of my life I’ll never get back reading that article. 40 editors are a SPEED BUMP when it comes to editing the Wikipedia. Also what’s up with the terms they are using for group of editors? Lol

What id like to see is the appeal to the admin thread on the Wikipedia. Instead we have a slate article about this click bait bullshit.

azerial,

Lol it’s not new, it’s always been like this for as long as i can remember. Keyboard warriors will be exactly that. You just have to work around it. It’s precisely why i never became an admin. These days i just stick to typo fixes using awb. Useful but not too much.

azerial,

Yeah i don’t think another wiki is a reliable source. I think that would fall under user forums or some shit. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Verifiability#Rel… either way, good for them lol

azerial,

Right i posted the same thing on another nothing chats thread a few days ago. It’s such a bizarre statement that’s just not true.

azerial,

I wonder how long they’ve been working on this integration and i bet they didn’t see this coming: Apple says iPhones will support RCS in 2024 . I mean it’s technically not the same product. RCS will replace sms/mms and “Nothing Chats” is an iMessage back door (?).

azerial,

This makes me roll my eyes. From the Sunbird faq:

Will the app [sunbird] be open source?

Some of the messaging community believes that software that is open source is more secure. It is our view that it is not. The more visibility there is into the infrastructure and code, the easier it is to penetrate it. By design, open source software is distributed in nature. There is no central authority to ensure quality and maintenance and by putting that responsibility on Sunbird, development would not be feasible. Open source vulnerabilities typically stem from poorly written code that leave gaps, which attackers can use to carryout malicious activities.

To help satisfy our own ambitious goals of providing total privacy and security, we are currently undergoing a third party audit that will validate our security, encryption and data policies and plan on receiving ISO 27001 certification after launch.

Sure Jan.

azerial,

Liquidation has commenced.

azerial,

Good. China treats their citizens like shit. It’s not okay.

azerial,

Imagine escaping reality to your very own private, adorable, and furnished lake house at Lake Anna, VA. Surrounded by lush green trees on a one acre lot, this well-maintained water access cottage is just a short walk from the lake, where you’ll find your own deeded boat slip. Ideal for weekend getaways to enjoy boating, fishing, or just a few days of quiet peaceful solitude. Spread out inside in the spacious living room / bedroom combo, where you’ll find quality LVP flooring throughout, a full bathroom with shower and plenty of storage space, and a convenient kitchen with refrigerator and microwave.

No stove, just a microwave. I think I’ll pass. Lol

Imagine microwaving your tv dinner in your very own, private, affordable?, and furnished lake shed!

edit: i copy and pasted that above from the website (the quote).

azerial,

Bahahaha 🤣

I really appreciate the use of a dyslexia friendly typeface.

azerial,

It’s always like that, features over stability. I love seeding ebooks!

edit: if you use rtorrent, check out github.com/saltyorg/Saltbox it’s an Ansible based solution for management and development

azerial,

I don’t like this. Not everything can be bubblegum and gumdrops, but this is promoting suicide and as a person that has been very close to that point, i hate this.

Edit: Text HOME to 741741 to connect with a volunteer Crisis Counselor. Free 24/7 support at your fingertips. They also have a number if you’re in the place, 988 in the USA.

To be clear, this may not have been the artist’s intention, but it’s how it read to me.

azerial,

As a person that worked at BioWare for 10 years. This is my theory. They just laid off 50 people src: theverge.com/…/bioware-layoffs-dragon-age-dreadwo… Based on my current knowledge, Dragon Age and Mass Effect are still on; however, kotor 3 was pretty early. Some people suggested the 50 people were from swtor, however, BioWare Austin was sold to another publisher Broadsword: …swtor.com/…/929816-an-update-on-the-development-…

When i was at EA, support orgs were moved to internal EA and only the game team was specic to the studio. 50 people does not equal support, 50 people is a new project.

I theorized they cancelled kotor 3 then laid off a bunch of people, then transferred a bunch of people to mass effect and dragon age. I’ve been through 2 layoffs with EA and this is exactly what they do. It’s a shame because it was a long held passion project for a lot of the devs.

azerial,

It was definitely an EA call. They’ve been talking about kotor 3 for years internally. The devs want it, but you gotta keep up that stock price…:-\

azerial,

Lol i guess I’m commenting on a different project perhaps. 😝

azerial,

Cooking rice in msg water is really good too. Same concept.

azerial,

Sounds really great!

azerial,

archive.ph/SctTv to get around the “you have an ad blocker” popup.

azerial,

I’d check out your local library. Obviously you can’t take the books, but you can check em out and learn.

azerial,

No i just think it would be a good place to search out the good books. I’m sure they’re all in a section, so you’d get to actually look at them and figure out what you want. Then you can go to MAM and get them. That’s what id do, plus the library is relaxing.

azerial,

Woohoo! Also, for real, check out the overdrive app. It’s pretty awesome. I mean like sure, i can download whatever, but like some of the fiction, once I’ve read it in done. I don’t need to retain it.

edit: spelling

azerial,

Lol this. Everyone’s so paranoid with locks, this only makes sense if you live in a concrete bunker. Also, if they want to get in, they will. Self housing and using devices that are patched and communicate locally is the way. The only issue with this is you have to be on top of your system and ensure it’s patched and up to date, but wouldn’t you oil your manual lock occasionally?

edit: added clarification

Whole Foods argues it can ban BLM masks because the Supreme Court let a Christian business owner refuse same-sex couples (fortune.com)

Amazon.com’s Whole Foods Market doesn’t want to be forced to let workers wear “Black Lives Matter” masks and is pointing to the recent US Supreme Court ruling permitting a business owner to refuse services to same-sex couples to get federal regulators to back off....

azerial,

It’s not “Whole Foods” it’s Amazon. Whole Foods died when Amazon bought them.

source: I’m from Austin and know several people that work there from employees to management. They killed everything that was whole foods.

azerial,

And then Amazon bought them and as I’m certain it was fucking awful to work there.

edit: seems familiar… package deliveries, pickers, warehouse workers, pee bottles

azerial,

You can’t escape those fucks living in Texas. They’re everywhere.

azerial,

I think I’ve heard about this.

azerial,

I used to work at Electronic Arts for 13 years. Doesn’t sound very different. Large public corporations will do anything to make profit, including layoffs.

azerial,

Or poop lol must maintain eye contact

azerial,

Neat link. I really like using ballotpedia.org/Main_Page when researching local candidates.

azerial,

Mac is annoying. I think the real skill here is just being able to use a terminal. I remember when i worked at EA we had a gazillion Mac mini’s to build ios apps. Due to the way apple likes to handle their certs, you had to update them often. The majority of my coworkers would use a KVM appliance to do so, but it was like 4 commands.

Terminal for the win. I think we eventually just automated it in the build system. Also Jenkins can fuck off.

azerial,

It doesn’t have to be cruel. I grew up on a sustainable farm. I agree with you however, it’s the culture that has decided meat or nothing and that’s why it’s cruel.

Legendary PC developer says Denuvo is “a punishment to the consumer” (www.pcgamesn.com)

Quote from the article: “The inclusion of intrusive DRM softwares [sic] like Denuvo is a choice that yields an unfair punishment on the consumer,” Running With Scissors says. “Respect the consumer, make a game they want to play, and you will never feel the need to fight piracy. The gaming industry deserves a better future,...

azerial,

Even the devs hate denuvo. It slows down the build times and makes it hard to debug.

azerial,

Not if you work for a massive publisher.

edit: or if you publish under one. It’s likely in your contract. Devs really don’t want to use it, but they are required to do so.

azerial,

Awe as a dev this kind of bums me out a little. I wonder that they used for DRM. Those sales go directly to the devs in way of raises and retention.

Granted this is not EA where i worked, but if you enjoy the game, i encourage you to buy it.

Also NOTE: I DO NOT SUPPORT DRM, just the pay checks of the devs as i was one for quite some time.

azerial,

Oh my too!

azerial,

I don’t think piracy is bad lol i do think mega corporate publishers have bad practices for sure. Like cool, the one i worked for is publicly traded. Awesome. Every action is greed motivated. I hate that.

Every time i loose hope in games i just play undertale and ignore the world. >.>

azerial,

I’ve thought about this. I think that happened was because of timelines, they released a super early build, fuckin producers.

It’s not the worst thing for an early access game to be cracked, honestly. If the game is has more eyes, that’s great. I am curious about what is out now however.

I am also curious about if the cracked version can be updated with content once the game goes live. Like i have no idea when that is or if it has already happened.

azerial,

Yeah! You also realize this is a group full of intelligent people right? It’s the whole reason why i chose this instance.

azerial,

I love the little emojis, it’s adorable. 😍
