taking a break from Baulders Gate 3 due to a bad DMing event, and picked CP2077 back up for the Phantom Liberty DLC

Twitter is already dead. It’s X now

Infrastructure I think. The last few waves of invites have brought instability to the system if i recall

I think I’ve seen Orbital Potato on YouTube cover a few games that might come close to that idea

There will always be someone who is either arrogant, greedy, or dumb enough to do anything.

Zeragamba,
@Zeragamba@lemmy.ca avatar

I’ve stopped being a reader on Twitter and rarely interact with anything there, but I have a big chunk of my audience still there, so it’s still part of my posting schedule.

Zeragamba,
@Zeragamba@lemmy.ca avatar

getting an audience to move is about as easy as asking a fish to fly. It’s much easier to just post on as many different platforms as we can.

Zeragamba,
@Zeragamba@lemmy.ca avatar

that sounds like just plain old paranoia and fear mongering

luckily, he has minimal influence over SpaceX, and only really provide high level direction. Same with Tesla.

Twitter, though… the turnaround time on his whims is staggering

let’s talk about Ruby

Ruby like most programming languages doesn’t support bare words, [undefined variable exception]

but if you define a particular method_missing, suddenly Ruby supports bare words. [ruby repeating what was typed]

Now this isn’t deserving of wat. this actually shows just how awesome Ruby is. [Drummer_t-rex.jpg]

But if you actually do this then…

Wat

audiences will rarely move from platform to platform. For content creators, we have to go to where our audience is, or provide an incentive to move elsewhere. That’s the main reason why there hasn’t been a decent competitor to YouTube, Twitter, nor Twitch. The audiences there are entrenched.

I only call my friends and family if it’s time sensitive or urgent.

More dog owners are questioning vaccines like rabies after COVID (www.pressherald.com)

More than half of U.S. dog owners expressed concerns about vaccinating their dogs, including against rabies, according to a new study published Saturday in the journal Vaccine. The study comes as anti-vaccine sentiments among humans have exploded in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic....

Zeragamba,

At least in Canada, rabies vaccines are legally mandated

This is what I’m thinking of doing. Lets me host my own content and not rely on other instances to stay alive.

Canada is a bit on the weird side too. For us companies can either advertise what their drug does, or advertise their name, but not both.

Can we please unpin the proprietary off-site/off-network promotion of discord

This is completely counter productive to growing Lemmy. I absolutely despise discord. Look at the network traffic it generates and tell me wtf they are doing. They won’t tell you. Their business model will leave you completely dumbfounded as to how they exist. Everything shared on the platform is lost in a black hole...

Zeragamba,
@Zeragamba@lemmy.ca avatar

People use different platforms for different reasons.

I personally use Lemmy because it’s currently the best alternative to Reddit. I use Discord because it’s the most popular instant messaging platform, and I haven’t had issues with it. I’m currently looking for a replacement for Twitter/X as I’m not confident with the way that platform is headed.

Zeragamba,
@Zeragamba@lemmy.ca avatar

Yep, one of the platforms I’m looking at, and seems to be the second best contender for me. Tumblr of all places is where I’m feeling most at home

I don’t understand this argument about antitrust laws. As far as i know Google hasn’t done anything to block other companies from making their own search engines or browsers. Nor does Value and Steam, nor Microsoft and Windows.

As a web developer, EdgeHTML was the source of so many bugs, including a few that were regressions, and it didn’t seem like Microsoft dedicated enough resources to the Edge project.

When the fuck did a mobile hotspot become something you have to pay extra for?

It’s my goddamn motherfucking mobile data and MY PHONE. I should be able to use it however I want. My wifi went down because the greedy, cunt-faced shitbags at Comcast stole taxpayer subsidies to enrich themselves instead of actually providing the service we’re paying for. I tried to switch to a mobile hotspot and my phone...

Zeragamba,

the second point feels highly suspect as most internet traffic is encrypted these days, and all ISPs could analyze is the domain you’re talking too, and the amount of traffic to each

ISO 8601 is the only correct way to format timestamps.

Zeragamba,
@Zeragamba@lemmy.ca avatar

As a different Canadian, I always use YYYY-MM-DD and a 24 hour clock.

Zeragamba,

Timezone is optional, and when missing is read as local time.

Zeragamba,
@Zeragamba@lemmy.ca avatar

luckily Local time can be any timezone!

Zeragamba,
@Zeragamba@lemmy.ca avatar

nearly forgot that 8601 has support for durations as well

Zeragamba,

I concur. Sync has been amazing to use.
