Has HP printers always been this bad? (sh.itjust.works)

So my mother recently bought an ET-2800, By HP we had an HP printer before and we got a new one because the old one would not work with my sister’s Windows 11 Laptop. So I had to set it up for my mother, the manual said you can use it without the app. But there was no way to physically do that. Anyway, I downloaded the app on...

WindowsEnjoyer,

HP doesn’t stand for “Huge Pain”. It stands for:

  • H - Fuck
  • P - You

That’s the unofficial moto of the HP company - “Fuck you!”.

Seriously, anyone who still buys HP products, they disrespect themselves.

WindowsEnjoyer,

Yeah. HP products were used to be great. Still have some decade old printers at some place by HP and they simply work.

However, HP printer purchased ~5 years ago simply suck ass. And I will never get back hours that I’ve spent fixing it. Or attempting to fix it. Go to hell HP… ☹️☹️☹️

WindowsEnjoyer,

In Lithuania it’s legal, but they cannot say any words like “let’s play” or “best casinos” etc. I don’t know specific, but most of casino/betting ads are like these (always with the weird/annoying voice)

NAME, casino!

NAME, casino!

NAME, casino!

NAME, casino!

NAME, casino!

WindowsEnjoyer,

Don’t forget annoying/screaming voice. And repeat each several times. 😅

WindowsEnjoyer,

Solid example!

I’ve just released Gatekeeper 1.6.0. It’s a single executable that turns any Linux machine into a home gateway. Now with realtime traffic graphs, LAN autoconfiguration, full cone NAT and better looks. (github.com)

Hi all home network administrators :) Haven’t posted anything here since June, when I told you about Gatekeeper 1.1.0. Back then it was a pretty bare-bones (and maybe slightly buggy) DNS + DHCP server with a web UI with a list of LAN clients. Back at 1.1.0 Gatekeeper didn’t even configure your LAN interface or set up NAT...

WindowsEnjoyer,

I will not blame you, since it seems you spent a lot of time on this project.

What does this project actually solve? It seems like you are trying to re-implement ISP’s router, just being open source.

From my understanding, it’s either user who has no idea how stuff works and will not look into this project, or user knows enough how this stuff works and will use OpenWRT router/rpi or Mikrotik. I don’t understand - why would someone pick your project over RPI/OpenWRT/Mikrotik router?

WindowsEnjoyer,

Kind of a good thing to have something in between, but the problem for the author - there wouldn’t be a lot of consistent users. What if user starts needing VLANs? Or VPN? Or VPN as a client? The user would migrate to other tools.

WindowsEnjoyer,

Well, media controlled and owned by business. What do you expect? 😅

WindowsEnjoyer,

The average user would still try to change DNS settings by editing /etc/relov.conf (which is overwritten and will not survive reboots) or changing settings in Network Manager.

No. The average user would use NetworkManager GUI integrated into DE.

WindowsEnjoyer,

What you are after is basically a server. Your next logical step if Pi is not enough - Intel NUC.

Israeli minister: 'We are fighting human animals' (www.middleeastmonitor.com)

Israel’s Defence Minister Yaov Gallant has ordered the complete closure of the Gaza Strip, including a ban on the entry of food, water, fuel or access to electricity as Israel intensifies its bombardment of the besieged Strip in the wake of the surprise attack by the Palestinian resistance. His comments have drawn criticism...

WindowsEnjoyer,

As soon as I’ve seen your instance - your comment makes sense. Thanks for your opinion I guess lol.

WindowsEnjoyer,

Firefox. With adblock & other privacy-focused extensions on Android.

If you are this paranoid - Firefox Focus browser on Android.

WindowsEnjoyer,

Correct. I thought It’s a common sense (I am using it for years lol), but yeah, it’s uBlock Origin. Any other adblocker is kinda sold to ad companies and explicitly allows their ads.

WindowsEnjoyer,

I’ve heard talks that after each Windows update, you have to restore Grub config.

Not the case with me. Had dual boot for some time and never had to fix it… 🤷

WindowsEnjoyer,

I’ve heard rumors or memes about it. Never had to fix grub after Windows update. Maybe it’s the thing of the past and Microsoft simply fixed this behavior.

But when last time i fixed grub - it was when I renamed disks in Windows, which are actually BTRFS Linux partitions, mounted in Windows using WinBTRFS driver. It somehow changed UUIDs in Linux. This is unrelated, but still wanted to tell 😅

WindowsEnjoyer,

What Windows version and edition are you using? Also, your GRUB is installed in BIOS or EFI mode?

I am on Win11 professional edition I think, EFI mode…

WindowsEnjoyer,

Sounds like you’ve never been banned in Reddit. You don’t realise how differently mods on power trip understand the word “harrassment”. Or anything else.

Reddit is a trash place in general.

WindowsEnjoyer,

Yeah. Reddit went downhill…

WindowsEnjoyer,

Reddit was literally created to be a hangout for pedo nazis.

Yeah suuuuure… 😅😅😅

WindowsEnjoyer,

This looks literally what I’d like the future to be. Everyone can live the way they want. <3

WindowsEnjoyer,

Well, some people prefer dogs, some prefer cats and some prefer sheeps… 😅

WindowsEnjoyer, (edited )

You guys need to calm down. Maybe the guy wants to have a steak, but he also wants the meat to be as fresh as possible… 😅 He is also making sure that the sheap is as relaxed/respected as possible, so he put it on the front seat. Stressless meat I’ve heard tastes better… 😅😅😅

WindowsEnjoyer,

Lmao it says “buy”, not “own” xD Website delivers what it promises. Nothing is said about “own for life” lol.

WindowsEnjoyer,

Wait until you find about S3 and s3fs.

WindowsEnjoyer,

Sometimes I just leave “feed it back to ChatGPT and ask to explain” sort of things xD.

This might not sound logical, but when you are writing Ansible for something that has no module or very complex - mix of Jinja2 templates and yaml tasks makes it superb hard, especially if you are looking for the first time.

Seriously, comments are useful, especially in top of the function.

WindowsEnjoyer,

I’d love to be able to swap the engine. Or better - build it myself 👀

WindowsEnjoyer,

And use Revanced to patch the shit out of Reddit app.

WindowsEnjoyer,

Apkmirror :) download APK from there.

WindowsEnjoyer,

Why business would buy raspberries? I am out of the loop.

WindowsEnjoyer,

That’s so cool! Thanks!

WindowsEnjoyer,

Lol. Maybe I should sell my inventory. Still have like 2 RPI zero, 3 RPI3B+, 2 RPI4 and one RPI400… 😅 Their price is currently like 3-4x higher than I bought.

WindowsEnjoyer,

same as saying Microsoft doesn’t have a monopoly on PC Gaming because Mac and Linux exist

😡

WindowsEnjoyer,

I stick to Telegram. I don’t want anything to do with Meta.

WindowsEnjoyer,

That’s neither of OSI Layers lol

WindowsEnjoyer,

Myself I really wish that Godot would finally start getting traction in being the most advanced and the most used game engine. And it’s free.

Just look at Linux - it’s free, most used and most customizable server platform, even tho paid alternatives (e.g. Windows server) exists. I wish Godot would become de facto standard game engine.

WindowsEnjoyer,

<3

WindowsEnjoyer,

BTW I use Arch Linux on my desktop. BTW I use Arch Linux on my laptop. BTW I use Debian on my server.

WindowsEnjoyer,

This is kinda nostalgic. I no longer have Facebook (deleted years ago) and I don’t have much friends of the past. It’s been like 10 years since the last time I received it lol.

WindowsEnjoyer,

Someone will meet me at my home! Awesome! Def not resharing. I’ll make dinner for the killer! 🥩🔥

WindowsEnjoyer,

$400 on a fancy gaming router with custom firmware support

I think I need to bold this up. Custom firmware support, especially OpenWRYT, means that your router will live for years to come.

WindowsEnjoyer,

I remember watching halo tv series. Those ass cheecks are good. 😅😅😅
