As I understood it, one of the foundations of open source development is scratching your own itches, then putting what you made up for grabs in case it scratches someone else’s. There shouldn’t be any expectation of support on your part beyond an email or two. The code’s out there if they want to scratch the itch a different way. It’s kind of a homesteader ethic.
I suppose the thing is, I personally wouldn’t care much if anyone else used it or not, my itch has been scratched. If someone else finds it of use, great! If they need changes, they’ve got the code and can get crackin’ on it themselves. Or, they can pay me to do it if we can agree on a price. Outside of that I have no expectations.
What else is there to do but accept it? It isn’t like our politicians have the will to do anything about it. Peaceful protest falls on deaf ears. The gun crazies would gladly die in a blaze of glory rather than be disarmed. The country is awash in guns and ammunition. So please do tell, oh wise outsider, what the hell a normal person is supposed to do about it?
There are fewer protests these days because people are catching on that they don’t accomplish dick. As to leaving, people have families. Not just their immediate family but think aunts, uncles, cousins. It’s not trivial to leave all that behind and move somewhere where you know no one and have no support structure, and maybe you don’t even speak the language. And to even consider it, you’ve got to have the time and money to expend on moving, and your destination country has to agree to let you in. It’s not a simple undertaking.
Yeah, well maybe they ought to speak up. In the meantime their elected representatives are all-in on rapine & slaughter which, incidentally, invites reprisal.
The news isn’t a surprise as Unity angered a lot of its loyal game developers a few weeks ago after pushing through a price increase based on numbers of downloads — and then retracted it after an uproar.
I’ve worked in software development for over 20 years, and I stand by what I said. If you’re that tied to a specific implementation, you’ve fucked yourself and you deserve to fail. You can copy most of your resources over, the rest is just a matter of porting your logic.

People have gone numb as an emotional safeguard. People have lives they’re trying to live, and if they fell to pieces every time someone got shot in this country they’d die of dehydration from all the crying.
I have the same question. They said other veggie printers (which are a thing, I guess) use pre-grown fruit or veggie matter that has been turned into some kind of slurry, but it doesn’t specifically state what kind of “ink” this printer uses except to say that it is an “edible material” subjected to UV light. I have concerns as to what that edible material may be. Also, if it’s already edible, is there any point in rendering it into the shape of a carrot?
Guess they ran everyone out of business that they needed to, so now the premium features get yanked and your choice of alternatives is curtailed. Hooray for enshittification.
AI is actually the king of bullshit. It might give you some code, but will it compile? Probably about as well as an AI art knee would actually bear your weight.
Sometimes a comic artist just has a moment where they take it way off the rails. Remember the time Garfield woke up all alone in the house? Haha fat kitty lasagna mondays amirite? Oh wait a sec, let’s have some existential fucking terror for a moment.
