laptop is up there to stop the light from falling when the birds fly onto it. i have an extra kb and mouse attached so i dont have to reach. both pc and laptop are hooked to the big tv, just have to pick the input. my main pc is behind the headphones/mic on the right side of the curved screen
Well, since the last idea I had for the community crashed, burned and the ashes blew away in the wind. So for shits and giggles I’m giving 24hrs to post basically whatever....
Where is this setup? Those concrete walls looks study
Southern Alberta, had it down there to give me more room in the living room, but have a roommate down there now. Making another post with the current setup.
most of my stuff has been frankensteined together too. even the receiver was free cause the A+B speaker buttons were buggered along with the volume. i have not touched the volume knob in years, and just soldered the A side on permanently
i have been waiting 3 years for hip surgery, still no idea when it’ll happen. i’ve lost everything since im unable to work, let alone walk to the store. I can no longer afford to eat daily, every other day is still a bit much…gotta make that food last! my food budget was $8 this month. Food bank here in town helps, sure, but who wants to eat old, outdated, stale food, for years on end. Alberta government is more willing to let me die on MAID program than to fix me so i can go back to work and pay tax’ again.
I’m kinda new to linux, however I seem to remember running a headless ububtu server years back. Also remember it took a long time to setup being my first headless server....
I think I caught Oxhorn play the 2nd or 3rd day, and I was super unimpressed. I had high hopes for it, but knew who was developing it so had no interest in buying it new or anything, but wow. Maybe it just looks really nice while playing and crap while being streamed? Not a chance I’m buying it before it 75% off, or more
A while ago I had asked everyone what their opinion on changing up the community here a little. Nothing major, but maybe drum up some other content. No shame to the regular posters, keep doing your thing, I am not trying to shut you out or even hint that I, or really anyone, objects to what you bring here....
I made a post not too long ago outlining the rules for today. Asked for folks to save the memes till monday. Hopefully we dont get a tonne today. If so, I will address it a little more publicly
with the recent news about the things that were said about Google slowing down Firefox on purpose, are they doing this because they severily dislike Firefox/open source? :c If so, that wouldn’t make a lot of sense!!! Because Google loves open source too. I read they were doing this to stop adblockers, and well if you use...
either you are paid by google to make accounts seem like real people behind them, and spread propaganda for google, or you are a young kid who has yet to grasp the reality of what google is telling you they do vs what they actually do.
Do you think the tobacco producers are spouting how great their product is at giving folks cancer? you must be too young to remember cigarette ads, and how 9 out of 10 Dr.'s recommend a particular brand of smokes.
Google wants your information, they want to sell you shit, that is all. They will make it easier to get that data, and easier to buy from them, but dont for one second think they give one ounce of a shit about you, or your life as long as you stay on their platform and spend money on them
look, im not trying to be a dick, honestly. but ive seen some of your posts here and there, and it really seems like you have a big hard on for google, like you capitalize the name and everything. someone under contract would do something like that, however auto correct will as well, but im on pc…so im bias. some of the other things you say…ok more how, but to me sounds like someone under contract.
yeah, i could be wrong and im sorry for being a dick about it. if thats the case, you should have a look as some of the evil shit they have done, look at project dragonfly and tell me they have the users best interest at heart. I was a big google fan for many years, bought nexus phones before they changed name to pixel, was among the early adopters of gmail, (public) beta tested lots of shit. hell, i remember when the front page said “ad free”. so this isnt coming out of nowhere, i have reasons, and you should do a little research, but dont search it ON google
Edit: deleted the shortcut for ‘ad free’, was the wrong one. will update when/if i find it…maybe Mandela effect?
of course someone who is under contract is legally obligated to deny getting paid. maybe just a NDA, but either way
and dude, not even the kid i went to school with, who invented ‘bumptop’ and sold that shit to google, eats as much of the propaganda as you have and puked it up in such perfect form. just send me a link to your handler or whatever, I can make a much more convincing account. not looking to take over your job, but i can do it better
im done after this, but dont matter how many accounts you have, someone paid by google to spew their propaganda would have to have a lot of accounts, on many platforms. Now i almost want to peek around and find out just what you are really up to
you are a fraud, i wont block you, but ill be ignoring you from now on
i stopped when seti@home ended, had a nice server running for them on and off for years. kinda miss it, but no longer have a server, just the stupid 42u rack…
i did it for years, you can limit how much the program uses of your computer (ex. limit max 30% cpu usage), so its not running full out all the time. I used it on my server for a long time too, they had it setup nice. it was one of the few programs that server ran that actually used all 32 cores on both processors.
i don’t want to offend anyone, but some open source/privacy enthusiasts dislike google, but why?? google has made chromium, android, etc and most of the things they do are open source, and not only that, they also support creative commons media or public domain. i know the privacy concernes they may have, but they would never...
funny thing is, a guy i went to jr high with (in calgary) ‘invented’ a program called bumptop. a few years later, the guy sold everything to google for a nice sum, and got a job. next android update…was basically bumptop. seems hes still doing well for himself, colour me a bit jealous lol

I seem to remember coming across some crude as a kid, not like in the wild, but when I was with my dad on deliveries. This would have been back when the tar sands were still un/starting to be developed. The shit stinks like crazy if I remember right, and its gross to touch. Think I seen crude, tar sands, and refined oil all in the same place, point in time. Cant remember the context around why I was able to get that close to it, so, hell its so fuzzy, it might have even been a dream at this point
Delivery reports are a convenience feature that lets the sender know if the message they sent has been received (not read) by the recipient’s device (for this, it has to be online and have sufficient storage space, though modern phones usually have so much storage the latter is no problem at all)....
Back in the day, I paid for every single received text, network provided or not. If some asshat decided to mass text me, it could easily run my phone bill up real fast.
I grew up in Alberta and was forced to take french from grades 1-6 and I believe it was an option from grade 7 onward. Most of my french teachers sucked at teaching, didn’t know the language that well, or just didn’t care. I know my french sucks and I can hardly string a few words together, however I can understand a lot more when spoken to me, and I can figure out 70% while reading it. Just don’t ask me to wright in french.
However I drove across Canada this summer and I apparently know enough to get fuel while in Quebec!
