I’ve recently been looking through this unbelievably detailed list/history of the chairs appearing in all the different Trek series/movies. Thought you all might enjoy!
the fact that the camera crew seemed to like focusing on them being intimate makes my brain say, “this must be important to 23rd century humans in some way”.
Might I also suggest that another possibility is that until very recently, there has been so little gay representation on TV that merely depicting it at all, as Discovery has done, can feel jarring to some.
A friend of mine was complaining about the same thing back on Season 1, but I asked him if it had been a hetero couple shown brushing their teeth together or having a smooch would he have minded and he admitted probably not. We chalked it up to just not being used to seeing that with a gay couple on tv.
I’d cry too. Have you ever used pans seasoned over years? I actually flinch every time I see that scene in the movies now that I’ve seasoned pans of my own. 😢
You know, Robin Williams was the reason that I started doing stand-up comedy? My personal hero. Knowing that he did this for Neelix, especially when he was getting a lot of hate? Robin is a saint. Also just a small thing because I wanted to honor the man…...
It gets exhausting, so tiring, to hate everyone around you. So much energy sapped just from immediately disliking someone for the smallest thing. Too much for too long....
Man I’m just in constant awe and gratitude for how many of these things you have! I’ve been Trek memeing for a while but most of these are totally new to me, I feel like I’ve been living under a rock. You’re a beautiful human and we love you! ❤️🖖
I always liked the other one where Garfield was left in but all his thought bubbles were removed, so it just became a deadpan documentary about a slightly unhinged loser’s life with a cat.
Oh god, I forgot about that! Season 1 of this show just really needs to be chucked into a memory hole. I don’t understand how people defend it as “the only decent season of DSC.” It’s absolutely wretched by every measure, but even more so when measured against the tone and optimism that’s vital to Trek. Subsequent seasons are fumbling messes, sure, but the first is a special kind of awful.
I really liked what Voyager had with the basic episodic format but with a slow accumulated progress over time. It’s a happy medium between totally disconnected eps and hyper-serialized continuous stories.
I really hope me posting the memes the past couple days hasn’t been a problem. I don’t want to spam. I just have over a thousand images saved on my phone. Combine that with the fact that I’ve been having a rough couple weeks and just looking to make others laugh so I can make myself smile....

“Actors who are asking me to add some tracking code are mostly interested in reselling users’ data,” Anashkin said. “Actors who want to purchase it outright will stuff it with malware depending on their level of greed: hijacking affiliate links, tampering with search results, showing popups with shady websites, etc.”...
Actually boycotting ironically hurts in this situation.
Writers and actors are encouraging people to keep watching and taking about shows & movies because that underscores the value they bring and are trying to get recognition for, ultimately bolstering their case.
