I’m in my 30s well past my schooling years. I accept the rock.

I think the deal becomes void after the first one crushes me to death but feel free to keep going if you want. I wont mind

I remember being bored out if my mine as kid. Pre internet days, and older brothers hogging the Nintendo. When I had nothing to do I’d just feel terrible, I’d mope around the house. I’d take things apart or act out just to get some kind of stimulation. I wouldn’t wish that on anyone. Let the kids have some entertainment.

I remember this game. I was to young to get very far and found it way too challenging for my age (I was like under 10 so understandably not the audiance).

I just remembering really wishing I could understand it because they graphics where really cool and whimsical.

It’s a shame no one whould pick it up. It’d have been excellent for somthing like super gaint games as they seem to have a great isometric engine built and Darren Korbs music style whould fit perfectly. I guess they’re busy with a Hades sequel though.

Is that even a cloak? Seems more like an attached cape.

I want full cult/jedi ammonitiy.

Didn’t belive it. tried it. died a little more inside.

Should I bother reporting these at this point?

Let’s not support reddit by participating in their attempt to boost stats.

If you really wanted to make him mad you’d have left the damn thing blank.

These are just adding threads to his golden parachute.

Now if we could somehow get LinkedIn. It will be the last core of evil pro corporatism.

I can smell the bot farming from here.

Seigest,
@Seigest@lemmy.ca avatar

I’ve brought up the ethics of it elsewhere. Many of us are pissed reddit undeleted our content. Regardless of legality i belive we have a right to remove our content as we see fit. This bot is copying that content from reddit without consent of those who made it wich is just as bad. again though legal, it is still a dick move. If a reddit user had their content copied here and wanted to remove it we are demanding they build an account to do so, this is not a postive way to gain users. We came to lemmy because reddit was too unethical, need to maintain higher standard of ethicacy.

I’m voting to defederate.

Seigest,
@Seigest@lemmy.ca avatar

My bad, You are right I should not have assumed that.

Seigest,
@Seigest@lemmy.ca avatar

No. It’s just a terrible thought that plagues my mind from time to time. My goal whould be to keep that number as low as possible.

Seigest,
@Seigest@lemmy.ca avatar

It’s not far off from that. Though I don’t really belive in any kind if afterlife I belive we need to do our best while we in the boring place.

But I also belive the consequences of our daily actions, purchases ect. are obscured from us. Shirt conpanies are not exactlly going to willing advertise that by purchusing ther product your resonsbile for .0005 deaths. So it can be a bit difficult to know where we actually stand morally.

Seigest,
@Seigest@lemmy.ca avatar

I agree with this. And if a study on this where to include this data thatd be really good.

But I also thinks that’s too hard to quantify. Even achieving proper data on death caused specifically from labour operations is going to be extreamly tough as the places causing these deaths will deny all accountability.

Seigest,
@Seigest@lemmy.ca avatar

This could be used. Though the examples here here are more oriented to risk of death for doing X. Micromorts could probably be used in determining values I am thinking of.

I am terrible at math so excuse the terrible example.

Let’s say working in a sweatshop in Vietnam has a micromort of .6 and the resouce you are calculating uses up to one third of these shops. Then you’d be adding .3 to your count.

We can say 1000 micromorts is one probable death.

Seigest,
@Seigest@lemmy.ca avatar

Ha! I remember this one.I think that exact quote from may be what caused me ponder this over many years.

I will try to get into those studies when I have better time to digest that knowledge but I thank you for sharing them.

Seigest,
@Seigest@lemmy.ca avatar

I whould disagree with shared accountability. At least for the purposes of this metric. Regardless of number of people other participating in the mechanisms causing these deaths, this is about an individual choice to participate.

Think of it like the classic button button of death. You press the button some random person you dont know but dies and you get $10k. It is 100% certain regardless of how many people have previously pressed the button that you will kill somone of you also the button.

In regards to the most dangerous I agree with farming and some foods are much worse then others. My doctor tells me to eat a banana every day to raise my potassium. I suspect the death number on those is huge compared to apples from my local apple orchard.

Seigest,
@Seigest@lemmy.ca avatar

I’m just shocked this isn’t a field study. This seems like somthing we’d need in order to make ethical choices.

Beans???

Seigest,
@Seigest@lemmy.ca avatar

From what I can gather the meme community was invested in some sort of “try not to poop” competition. Now they are posting beans to try and tempt eatchother into pooping.

Whatever promotes activity is good I suppose.

Seigest,
@Seigest@lemmy.ca avatar

That is good advice. I hadn’t considered that.

Seigest,
@Seigest@lemmy.ca avatar

I suppose it’s a bit more sensible for news related subs. The reddits ines sre likley using bots to find the news and post it, though such bots may not exist for lemmy yet and its just easier to scrape from reddit.

But then I see somthing like the ask reddit sub on Lemmy. It’s just all of the questions none of the answers and no engagement at all. Some of the content is years old.Why does that need to exist? I can understand the idea of a reddit archive but why use lemmy for it?

I’m also wondering about the ethicacy of it. I’m annoyed at Reddit for not allowing me to delete my old content. There’s a lot of folks threating legal action and such over reddit denying people the right to remove that content. Now we are copying that content. I assume without consent of those who’d posted it, and adding it to our own platform.

Though perfectly legal, is that really a good idea? Is that what we as lemmy users actually want? does this actually improve the platform?

Seigest,
@Seigest@lemmy.ca avatar

Man I love the Perry Bible Fellowship. Are they still active?

Seigest,
@Seigest@lemmy.ca avatar

I feel that. Reddit’s bit of an addiction for me. I don’t use other social media so it became my one stop shop for news, inspiration, and to connect with all the little niche intrest.

Oddly, I was frequently just doom scrolling r/all to see what was going on the the world. And when I ran out of revent stuff if just sort by new. Super unhealthy behavior.

Hopfully this transition will help me slow down a bit and get back to reality.
