The Swiss upper house passed the decision to approve the sale of 25 Leopard 2A4's to Rheinmetall with the condition that they are not transferred to Ukraine by 25 votes to 15 with 3 abstentions, earlier the lower house already approved decommission. Now Federal Council approval is needed, which is believed to be a formality.

In 1943, U.S. forces in Britain expected to export racial segregation. When white American Military Police (MPs) insisted a local pub segregate, the owner said he would. When MPs returned next day, they were met with “Blacks Only” signs & British barmaids telling white soldiers to wait their turn when they thiught they would be served before black soldiers. This set the stage for the epic Battle of Bamber Bridge.

Scratching a historical, artistic and theological itch today to see the Isenheim Altarpiece, created between 1512 and 1516, now in the chapel of the former Dominican convent in Colmar. Grünewald's painting of the crucifixion makes an immediate impact; and there's much to ponder

Interesting #news values on the #BBC site just now- a performance at #pop #festival is apparently more important to us than how the #UK government responds to the #crisis in nuclear armed #Russia. And a bit further down, another performance at the same festival is more newsworthy than policy developments in the #SNP, a party seeking the breakup of the UK. I don't know who pockets the profits at #Glastonbury, but they must pay their #PR bods plenty to get this stuff reported as "news"
