NAS89,

Unless you’re in California, where the second highest utility rates in the US exists and solar benefits are being capped by the state.

13% utility increase next year, a 95% increase in utility costs since 2014!

NAS89,

I don’t have a dog in this fight but bleeding edge literally implies that unreliability is to be expected. That’s why it’s bleeding edge and not leading edge.

NAS89,

my dad died from playing Cyberpunk on release RIP in peace

NAS89,

No worries; that would be leading edge, which you’re probably correct in your original statement with that in mind.

Bleeding edge in English generally refers to day zero hardware, software, or services, in which mainstream support most likely doesn’t exist and it is generally anticipated that issues will be encountered.

NAS89,

It’s not being pedantic; I’m not correcting their use of an incorrect word that doesn’t matter. There’s a pretty big distinction between leading edge and bleeding edge, especially when it comes to stated disappointment that a software or program isn’t as stable as expected.

No need to toss insults just to jump to the defense of someone in a pretty simple misunderstanding.

NAS89,

1- they didn’t mention being ESL until after the response, so congratulations on the foresight of other’s hindsight.

2- have a good night and stay blessed, bud.

NAS89,

Similarly, my YouTube shorts are filled with gambling videos and “get rich quick scheme” videos. Seems as though “do not recommend channel” blocks the channel but assumes you have some growing interest in the topic.

I just want to watch woodworking shorts and plumbing videos T_T

NAS89,

you mentioned the name of the movie as an issue; to be clear, you didn’t take the article title to mean the movie is named “Jewface”, did you?

NAS89,

Haha, that’s great.

Coincidentally, if they did a Bradley Cooper movie named “Jewface”, people would be angrier about the title than they are his appearance.

NAS89,

I’ve never relayed to a meme more. I moved my UPS to my work computer after that one failed and three days later, I lost power. Spent five hours fixing a corrupted SD card then reconfiguring my Pi-Hole and HomeBridge.

Lemmy.world: why not focus on stability instead of growth?

This instance happens ti be down quite often. Why do the admin doesn’t close the subscription and focus to keep the instance stable? It’s not like there will be blocked outside Lemmy, there ar plenty of instances out there. From outside (and IMHO) it seems a power hungry needs (sorry,bI don’t know if this does make sense...

NAS89,

From my understanding, the stability issues drive from repeated DDoS attacks. I’m not sure locking new membership solves that problem but does run the risk of starving new members from joining and risking a shrinkage of content.

I’m sure the admins are focused on more than one thing at a time and closing the site doesn’t seem like it makes a whole lot of sense.

NAS89,

I mean, it’s not great, but it’s not that awful. Pretty good for ending a night out and it’s cheap.

Is Wendy’s better? Yes, but go to a Wendy’s at 2am trying to gullet a Dave’s Double and you’re going to be sick. Jack has burgers that won’t upset your stomach and don’t sit as heavy.

NAS89,

Politics was my first blocked community on Lemmy. Then every other US politics community that has sprung up. They’re either echo chambers or flame wars and it’s irritating to use the internet as an escapism and run into arguments daily.

NAS89,

Yeah, it’s killing me slowly. I can’t afford solar, I keep my AC at 78 during the day when I’m home and off entirely overnight, I never turn lights on in the house, and I cook only with natural gas or charcoal and I’m still facing $400/mo from May to October.

I hit the “peak billing rate” for PG&E on the third day of the billing cycle each month and they say I just need to fork over cash for solar or reduce my energy further.

I just need a few more years off on my mortgage and I’m going to have to sell and move back to the Southeast, I guess.

Why is youtube recommending conservative "talking points" to me?

Hi, I am a guy in early thirties with a wife and two kids and whenever I go on youtube it always suggests conservative things like guys dunking on women, ben shapiro reacting to some bullshit, joe rogan, all the works. I almost never allow it to go to that type of video and when I do it is either by accident or by curiosity. My...

NAS89,

Follow up question: why won’t YouTube Shorts trust me when I say I don’t want to be recommended channels.

So…many…dancing…trends. And they keep sending more.

NAS89,

Yeah I can understand that for likes/dislikes or comments of “this is dumb”, but after hundreds of “do not recommend this channel”, the algorithm should be able to tell a lack of interest in a particular content.

NAS89,

I’m dying with the lack of baseball communication. The biggest Baseball and Atlanta Braves communities are pretty much dead and I really miss talking ball.

NAS89,

Woodworking is a nice hobby if you have the space for it. You can just chill out listening to tunes, drilling and planing, with no real involvement with others.
