Jz5678910,

That would be pretty neat. But I think they should get connected calling and messaging between phone and tablet in there. Apple does it, Samsung does it, the web app doesn’t cut it.

Edit: and immediately after posting this, I found this

Bug in Stremio? Missing episodes and no streams found

I’m loving Stremio so far, but having bad luck with the TV show Only Murders in the Building. It’s a fairly recent show. However, it doesn’t show any episode information for season one and two on Android. On Google TV it does show the episodes but getting No Streams Found for every episode. I could easily found it on...

There are two entries for that show for some reason. The first result does as you described. The second one which is a few titles over has the episodes.

Seeking a legit caller ID and spam blocker solution

Hi all, through my experience, the third party apps that are supposed to do this a pure trash. I mean true caller was pretty decent, but it was packed with ads and trackers of course and the overbearing permissions that constantly tries hijacking my set SMS and dialer apps… I don’t think using a third party app is the right...

Jz5678910,

Check with your carrier and see if they have a dedicated app. When I had AT&T, they had an excellent spam blocker. I haven’t haven’t checked with my new carrier because the built-in spam blocker on pixel is very good.

State of Android emulation on Linux (with viable 3D performance)?

On Windows, the go-to emulators are Bluestacks and NoxPlayer (both closed source), especially when gaming is concerned. Unfortunately they are not available on Linux, and the Nox devs’ dismissive attitude towards Linux also makes it unlikely they’ll ever make a Linux port:...

Jz5678910,

Maybe try this one? I’ve read it’s one of the better ones.

Jz5678910,

I keep seeing these posts about being the first to titanium. The essential phone used titanium before all of them but because the brand died I guess they don’t count anymore.

Jz5678910,

Another vote for stremio. Much cleaner and much faster.

Jz5678910,

Someone can correct me if I’m wrong, I’m not super up to date on cameras in phones. Top android contenders would probably be Samsung, Pixel, and Sony. So I’d probably look at photo comparisons from there.

I like reviews from Mr. Mobile and TheUnlockr when it comes to camera comparison, as they usually put up a two or four way comparison of the top brands.

As far as coming from iOS, photos depends on both the lens and the software, if you like iPhone photos, that’s not to say you won’t like another, but they’re not going to look exactly like that because different companies use different processing in the background.

Just wanted to chime in and say I was a skeptic till a few days ago. I tried the $4 30 day plan to see if it was for me, and wow, I’m amazed.

I did it for stremio as I don’t have the storage to keep up with local hosting and it’s simple for the non technical members of the house.

Blown away by how much faster it was to play a full 4k HDR stream with atmos. It was buffering like mad before. I’m a believer now.

Jz5678910,

Absolutely understandable, this was my hold up for a long time. I believe it really depends on your setup, what I had before wasn’t working as well as I wanted to and this was my solution. Unfortunately, I don’t have the means for local storage, so this was the next best thing for me.

I’m just in the mindset of the fact that I went from $40 a month paying for my streaming services to $40 a year for this plus my VPN.

Just had my first interaction with Meta Services last night. Thought I'd share what I learned. (kbin.social)

I was up late last night and we know how that goes - rabbit holes. This time I was trying to find some ways to make my phone feel a little snappier and possibly eliminate the issue I was having where my recent apps button stops working until I restart the phone. On Android 13 I found that if I changed to gesture based navigation...

Jz5678910,

It’s working fine for me.

Jz5678910,

I just want to thank the new mod team for stepping up. These sound good, will be excited to see where the community goes from here.

I appreciate bi-weekly brand discussion, I’ve learned some new things already from it.

While I mostly agree with the no AMA/no megathread, I would hope maybe there would be some wiggle room for those times when someone gets hands on with a prerelease device at an event for example.

Sometimes this can help to get our questions to the dev team before final release or generally gives us an idea of whether a device is worth considering, whether for a new device or an upgrade over a previous model, since reviews often don’t come till after pre-orders have already been placed.

Jz5678910,

This is the first year I haven’t followed beta updates, is there any major improvements in 14? Or is it just incremental like 13 was?

Jz5678910,

Looks like they took most of the best Samsung features and finally made them native. This update looks promising to me. Thanks a lot.

Jz5678910,

Awesome to see that, it was such a great game. I hope Sony keeps bringing their games over.

Jz5678910,

I’ve never had a good experience with Samsung till recently. The s4 overheated an insane amount, the s7 edge dropped wifi left and right, then finally I tried the fold 3 on my 3rd attempt at Samsung.

I enjoyed the phone for the aspect of the fold, the software handled it really well. But, one ui couldn’t get out of its own way, it had a lot of nice extra features, but also had a lot of useless (to me) extra features. The bloat like others mentioned was bad. But ok, not super offensive like it was on the old touch wiz.

I kept that phone a little over a year, the battery aged terribly. It started out great, then by the 7 or 8 month mark, it just dove off a cliff. At the 11th month, the factory screen protector, the one that’s like essential to the phone, popped a huge bubble right in the middle where the fold happens. Thankfully that was under warranty and I got replaced, but that was when I knew it was time to go.

I picked up a pixel 6 pro and sold the fold 3. I’m now on the pixel 7 pro. I replaced the galaxy buds with pixel buds, but I kept the watch. I will give it to Samsung on that, they have the best wear os watch experience I’ve ever used.

The experience syncing devices in the ecosystem was very nice, very apple like, and I do miss the quick sync between my phone and tablet. Google messages PWA is nowhere near as nice as the messages app on the Tab S7. Not being able to take phone calls on it anymore kinda sucks too. The earbuds and watch are pretty fluid, but not quite as seamless as when it was all Samsung.

Jz5678910,

One thing I’ll mention for those like me that use the feature regularly, you can’t cast natively from LibreTube.

[Discussion] Playing GOG and Epic games on the Steam Deck, your experience wanted.

I’ve got a substantial library of games on GOG and Epic that I wanted to play on the Steam Deck, and I’ve used the Heroic Launcher with some success to access a lot of my libraries on those two platforms, but managing the compatibility per game is a bit frustrating and sometimes after an update things break....

Jz5678910,

Switch to desktop mode, go to the discover store, it’s in there.

Jz5678910,

This is a skip for me. I’m more excited for the future with hopefully actual custom chips. My P7P is doing fantastic. Normally I’m the kind of person that likes to change my phone every year, I’ve had no inkling of wanting to do that this time around.

With that said, the pixel fold might be what I switch to once they reach maybe gen 3? I enjoyed my galaxy fold 3, but one ui just wasn’t for me.

Jz5678910,

Sorting by new works pretty well for me. There’s still the couple of them showing up, but there’s a lot more variety to what I see that way.

Jz5678910,

This here. I subbed to a community here that was a bot bringing over posts from the steam deck subreddit. After not being on Reddit for a while and realizing how many people it is just posting a picture of the steam deck, I immediately unsubscribed.

Unless the bot is smart enough to parse out all of the useless fluff, there isn’t a point. The useful posts are so far and few in-between these days. I’m happy to be here now where the posts have quality to them.
