Recreational is completely legal in NJ. To the point where employers cannot make a decision to hire or fire based on your cannabis use unless they can provide hard evidence that you were using on the job.
You just can’t cross state lines with any amount.
Lol? If you’re in NJ, and you want to smoke weed, Johnny Law in the DEA isn’t going to kick down your door and stop you.
The cops here can smoke weed. There are literally no arrests for recreational amounts now.
I’m here because 196 shows up on my feed and I really enjoy the memes.
I also have absolutely no problem with trans individuals or really any lifestyle anyone wants to live that isn’t hurting anyone else.
That said, was there an incident recently on here that spurred the creation of this post? Did something go down?
Edit: Changed “bothering” to “hurting” because I frankly don’t give a fuck about the feelings of the type of people that are “bothered” by LGBT+.
The fact that they need a space away from everyone else, and the fact that this post even had to be made, is a testament to mankind’s inhumanity to man. People are people, but there’s an unsettling amount of people that can’t see past creed, color, sexuality, and so on.
I’d say it’s a monument to our own hubris as well. We’re the most advanced civilization that we know exists, but still can’t seem to treat members of our own society right.
Which is why it’s important to give no quarter to fascism and theocracy no matter where you live.
Proud to carry my Satanic Temple card right next to my goddamn union membership book.
I think most all of us here on Lemmy are people with technical background. Most of my professional contacts remained using Reddit, Twitter and even excited when Threads launched....
I assume, considering this is the fediverse, that by “technical” you mean IT-related, Silicon Valley type fields.
While I grew up on computers and know my way around them, and have a bachelor’s degree in biochem, I’m an Operating Engineer.
That’s the proper title of “union guy that runs heavy construction equipment.” Mostly, I help build or resurface roads.
I’m one of the guys y’all get irritated with when your local highway is restricted to one lane by a work enclosure, but are thankful for when your new road rides nice.
It pays really well though, so there’s that. And it is actually very technical, but in a materials/engineering sense.

Here is my controversial take: if it is true that a cat needs to be let outdoors unsupervised in order to live a happy life full of enrichment, then we should not have pet cats at all....
Over the decades, my mother has fostered approximately 20 or so cats born in the neighborhood outside to strays. She will either bring them to the AWA or a no-kill shelter for adoption, find them a home personally, or adopt them into the household. To this day, all the cats my parents have owned were brought in from the wild and socialized.
Ignorant owners are solely the cause of decades of time and money invested in that endeavor. Their house is near a major state route and there are a shit ton of drop-offs. And the worst part is, nobody else in the neighborhood gives a fuck. It has been only through the efforts of my mother that the cat population has been kept in control in the neighborhood where I grew up.
Using animals for food is not inherently shameful; humans have done this for thousands of years. The difference is, humans used to respect the animals as more than just a food source and utilize as much of a killed animal as possible. The problem nowadays is the sheer excess. Corporate-owned farms are disgusting and the conditions are utterly cruel all in the name of profit and supplying demand.
For me, it’s sticking my hand out of the window of a moving car. Whether I’m driving or not, I love having the windows down and waving my hand in the wind. I’ve loved it since I was a child and I’ll never stop doing it!
Toxoplasmosis is a disease you can get from exposure to cat shit (protip: wash your hands thoroughly if you touch cat shit. And keep your litter boxes clean). A protist causes it. It usually only affects people with weakened immune systems though.
Just as with books, movies, plays etc the past holds a treasure trove of amazing experiences. Unless you have a lot more free time than I do it’s unlikely you’ve played anywhere near the majority of the classics. Let’s get out those pink sunnies and compare notes on some of our favourite releases....
All the old MechWarrior games, starting with MechWarrior 2. That was my childhood. PGI didn’t have what it takes to recapture that with MechWarrior Online or MechWarrior 5.
Shout out to Half-Life 1 and Team Fortress Classic (1.5). THAT was my teenage years. I played an insurmountable amount of TFC, adminned a couple servers, and took zero interest in TF2, because it just wasn’t the same without concs, throwable frag nades, etc.
S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Shadow of Chernobyl was a gamechanger though. That released when I was in college. Fell in love with the hopeless atmosphere, good gunplay, and the eurojank. I still play the various S.T.A.L.K.E.R. mods to this day and am eagerly awaiting the release of number 2 (slated for December, but we will see. Devs have been through a lot).
I know a lot of people that played WoW back then, and their experiences were largely the same. I didn’t get much into MMOs beyond Guild Wars 1 at that time. Final Fantasy XIV was good for a time, but Elder Scrolls Online blew me away after they basically redid the game. That was obviously much later in life, though, and that’s a very different framework of MMORPG than classic WoW and its early expansions.
I've been using Jerboa for Lemmy for my Beehaw account since the Migration. At first it worked fine. Then I started getting an error message about the version of Lemmy being used on the instance. But for the last couple of days it has been crashing immediately on opening:
I've been into the BattleTech universe since I was a kid (when I first got MechWarrior 2 on Win95), and nothing has frustrated me quite as hard as some BattleTech missions.
There are some mega mod packs for that game too that drastically change the ruleset (hit mechanics, how cover and evasion works, etc) as well as add in hundreds of new units ('Mechs, armor, VTOLs, even Clan Elemental infantry if you're playing one of the post-3050 mods). RogueTech is absolutely fucking infuriating, but so far it's the closest you can get to tabletop rules.
Community-made mods that you can find over at Nexus, but they usually require ownership of the expansions, if I remember correctly. You definitely want to play through the standard vanilla game for a while before you go messing with any mod packs though, because they are substantially harder.
Yo, I don't mean to get all John Connor or anything, but we need to put a stop to and legislate against AI. Full stop.
We already see how it's being misused.

Gaming often fetishises the new but many great things exist in the past, so let's strap into our time machines and talk about our favourite games released before say 2010?
