President Joe Biden will tout his economic agenda in remarks Wednesday as he campaigns for a second term amid low polling numbers on his job performance and the direction of the country....
Tying his name to it seems like a bad idea. People opposed Obamacare because of the name; half the country gets off on hating Democrats mostly because of the color of the ticket. Calling it Bidenomics will only make it easier for the talking heads to shit on it.
It's an alright way to see if someone is commenting on good-faith or not. Anytime I saw someone saying highly controversial things, I'd check their account to see if they were just downvote collecting or actually held the view. It's harder to do that now; my account says I'm at like...-30 something, on a single comment that went beyond a few people's sensibilities. I could have put an /s on it but that defeats the purpose.
But anyone that looks at my profile now to make the "good faith" check will see me at -30, despite other contributions.
It is dumb how people worry about the number, but it does have other uses besides just a popularity indicator.
I was under the impression that was how it was supposed to function; boosts were the upvote and downvote is the downvote, but boosts were weighted more heavily? Or something? Lmao it seems unnecessarily complicated, just stick with up or down.
It's my assumption that they are supposed to function like flair; for instance, on a game magazine I mod, I'd add a badge so a post could be flared for a specific platform for patch notes, and users could search for their "platform specific" posts....
Yup, I have mine on the magazine ready to go, but I'm not sure if it should be like user flair or post flair for sorting. So it's just kinda...all of em right now. Lol
Yeah, that's gonna be difficult. Lol I want to do it, but it's a tall ask to work full-time, take care of my own personal stuff, hobbies, and then also learn basic HTML and CSS just do decorate a landing page for a forum.
Don't get me wrong, I'd love to do it. It's just far down on the priority list and will probably be there for the foreseeable future. Would absolutely welcome anyone to help with it though! Currently best I can do is an icon lol
Some mods are literally just there to moderate. Others were there for CSS stuff and bot functionality. I imagine more of the latter will come over when it becomes unwieldy to do those things on the platform, and hopefully kbin will be more accepting to that functionality in the future.
I'm starting to get tired of people talking about Reddit on Lemmy. I personally don't care about Reddit anymore and am not interested in Reddit news....
I think this is what a lot of people are missing here. Lot of people asking for specific content, but very few are willing to make it.
Like I used to do some amateur in-depth looks at my college basketball team, but stopped due to just general life stuff and that is would get drowned out by memes about bar graphs. Now, though, there is an audience hungry for it, and it may be something I get back into a little bit.
I'm waiting to do it because I want to leave no trace, and any closed subs are unable to have comments changed. Also, waiting til the last minute because I'm not trying to dead mod one of my subs; I hate Reddit, buts it's a smallish sub (30k) and I don't want to just leave it. Only two of the five mods are active, and he's thinking of leaving as well, so I guess we're gonna have to mod search?? At least get one person in and then dip.
I agree. It's just hard to do that to people I've been in a community with for 10+ years. Reddit won't even notice that sub getting deaded, but the users will. The only nodding we had to do was repost bots and very rare racist stuff (really not even relevant to anything either lol)
Same. Seeing his copy/paste answers (literally) makes it near impossible for me to go back. The company clearly exists to now extract as much value from the users as possible. I didn't go there to be part of an LLM or an advertisers focus group, I went there for the community. If the community moves elsewhere, I have no problem dropping it. If the community stays, I'll build what I can here.

Just save this as karma.py and run it with Python 3.6 or higher....
Are badges currently functional? If so, how do they work/what is the purpose? (kbin.social)

Why is no one decorating their magazines? (kbin.social)
Why is no one using CSS to make their magazine's visual appearances more unique? That was the main draw of old Reddit for me....
Can I block posts about Reddit?
