I'm the same way. Even just going from the "lore" most planets aren't going to have colorful interesting cities in it with unique locations and things to do. A lot of the rocks are going to be desolate with nothing on it, because they should be. When you find something of interest in the desolate void of space, it's gonna be interesting. Every planet having the same formulaic procedurally shaped bar, merchant, and a fetch quest would have people foaming at the mouth about how Bethesda replaced their specific crafted environments with shitty generated ones with no soul.
U.S. auto safety regulators said on Tuesday that 52 million air bag inflators produced by auto suppliers ARC Automotive and Delphi Automotive need to be recalled because they may rupture and send dangerous metal fragments flying.
General Motors (GM.N), Ford Motor (F.N), Stellantis (STLAM.MI), Tesla (7203.T), Toyota Motor (7203.T), Hyundai (005380.KS), Kia (000270.KS), Mercedes-Benz (MBGn.DE), BMW (BMWG.DE) and Volkswagen (VOWG_p.DE).
Seriously this is a lot of fun. It is absolutely a Bethesda game through and through. Not sure what people were expecting. I’m glad it’s not like No Man’s Sky because that game bored the shit out of me almost immediately....
I'm like 30+ hours in and it's all I'm thinking about at work rn. That doesn't always happen, few games hook me like that. Halo 2/3 from MS/HS, probably Skyrim to an extent, ESO (forever and always apparently, cause I'm still playing that amongst Starfield), and now this. And it's all aspects. I want to build my ship, I want to do my outposts and crafting, I want to explore planets to find needed resources, gear, and weapons, I want to finish the main story, and the side quests (and I'm actually agonizing over which side I want to go with). Menus are weird, but it barely detracts. If anything it helps me get where I need to go quickly, the travel to objective feature is awesome for someone like me who couldn't find New Atlantis at one point because I forgot which system it was in.
I'm debating bringing my Xbox with me to a friend's house for a weekend trip so we can play there.
That they are still viable for some applications doesn't mean they aren't outdated. There will always be the thing that "starts" your issues, and pointing at it and saying that it isn't hardwares fault doesn't make it less true. Pointing at past years of non-problematic use doesn't make future incompatibility unacceptable.
This is literally the Simpsons meme of the principal standing outside the broken window, saying
"Is it my old HDDs fault I can't play a brand-new modern game?"
"No, it's the devs fault for not supporting my old hardware"
Is there no way to do this? I keep getting held up jumping to places because it wants to jump to another nearby star I haven’t been to, when there is a perfectly good way to plot through stars I have been to.
I think it's sort of perspective. The map is 3d; so while the systems may look overlapping, in space, you have to take a different route.
It definitely isn't just "shortest route via visual", but once you discover that system holding you up, you can then just travel through it next time without stopping.
That may have changed your ship weight and done something to the available paths; did your LY travel distance change?
At any rate, I've never had it purposefully stop me somewhere more than the one time to "discover" the location, so it should at worst be extremely temporary.
Lot of criticism for this game is people playing for an hour and ranting. Same people are spawning in exploring one singular system, and going "shits empty, it's boring".
Not saying there isn't valid criticisms to be made, but I think much of the sentiment online is bad because others are sucked in. I was a day late, got it Friday, and I'm at almost 30 hours now. I'm really into this game.
To add, I've been messing with outpost building and having questions. All the guides are basically "here's the tutorial, when we figure more out, we'll update here". Kinda frustrating, that isn't a guide. Lol
and I am really not impressed. I don’t want to know more about the story, don’t want to build a spaceship that I can fast travel with, don’t want to explore the universe....
At least 41 people have died in the Lone Star State’s unairconditioned prisons due to heat-related or unknown conditions this summer, according to the Texas Tribune....
According to a new report from Rentals, In July, the Canadian rental market hit a record high with an average asking rent of $2,078, marking an 8.9 per cent annual increase.
I bought a house (since sold, moved cross-country) literally because it was cheaper to do so. You get the asset of the house, and cheaper mortgage payment. Went from a "2" bedroom house (the spare bedroom was slanted) house from the 1930s with windows just as old, dirt foundation, no AC, and holes in the floor for plumbing (very effective for keeping mice out.......) into a 3 bedroom house for $400/month cheaper. Housing market is fucking insane over the last 5 years, if not longer.
It's like people/companies are buying houses because "it's the smart thing to do" against high interest rates, so they need to charge more for rent, which drives people to buy houses on higher interest rates, which pushes rent higher, and it just cycles infinitely upwards.
Yeah, in my mind expansions were map pack discs released for Halo and Ghost Recon, DLC was promotional armor from Pepsi codes. That's obviously warped since 2004, but in general, that's what it felt like back then.
Yep, own a manual, driven manuals prior, and learned when I was young (conceptually at least, I grew up racing motorcycles, and the idea of clutch+shifting became a thing when I was about 8). Never formally was "taught" in a car, just got in and started driving one. Am 32 in Appalachia.
Eh, I'd say that's pretty good in context. Bethesda has, for the most part, put out very successful games. Bugs and Bethesda are pretty synonymous though, and that this is on the less buggy side is something to quell hot takes of "Bugfield" before people even touch it. And I think the embargo restricts deeper comments on the game, so these may he the only comments we get for a few more days.
Michael Flynn, a Christian nationalist who previously served as US national security advisor under Donald Trump, said that Jews were willingly given to the Nazis and said there were no guards.
The continued narrative of "both sides are the same" is astounding to me.
Absolutely, both sides how to corporate interests, trend towards war-hawking when needed. But one side is trying to expand abortion and trans Healthcare, keep gay marriage legal, keep public education accessible and sufficient(ish), change Healthcare from private profit-hungry companies, and keep voting rights for all.
They are very much not the same. One is the baseline for what should be expected at minimum, and the other is about 30 ft below that line, screaming about library books and arguing some parents don't have a say in their child's Healthcare...
I play a LOT of ESO; I have three nights a week that I group with others to do PvP in Cyrodiil. Beyond that, I help out with a large trials Discord that runs ~3-5 trials a week, depending on schedules. I can sign up for those as needed.
Even with only doing PvP 3 nights a week, we generally only run ~2-3 hours, and there are enough people that if someone misses, it isn't a big deal, and a sub can usually be pulled into the role. If not? We just deal with it. People have lives, they're gonna miss. I routinely take breaks from the scheduled stuff, because I don't like having things planned out. With football and basketball season coming up, I'll likely step away for a bit to do other things I like.
ESO is nice, in that once you're at level cap, you're done doing that grind. New sets aren't too hard to get once you get sorted, and non-meta builds are viable through most end-game content. Being in the large trials discords makes it really easy to slot in when I want. Additionally, the Discords themselves makes it easy to stay connected without the commitment of the game required.
As for friends that don't play, anytime I'm playing Rocket League or CoD or whatever other games, I'll send something in the group chat to see if others wanna join. Most the time I don't get any takers, but putting the invite out there is enough. It's hard to stay connected through the years, an invite at least let's friends know you are thinking of them in the moment.
Was going to be BG3 on PS5 until I had the horrible realization it isn't out until September.
So I guess it's still ESO with some Rocket League mashed in sometimes. I did finally clear vCR+3 on Saturday. Only hardmodes I'm missing now is Dreadsail, Rock Grove, and the new one, Sanity's Edge, but that's more just cause I haven't tried much.
My 8Pro is the last 1+ I'll own. Looking longingly at Nothing Phone next year I think, but this phone has been wonky last few days. Keyboards not working, apps not working correctly (and are updated). Could technwbe because I'm still on Android 11, but the 1+ track record for stable Android releases isn't great either.
I just last week updated from A11 to A13, I do not enjoy it. I did it because some functionality was getting weird; Bluetooth dropping from Android Auto repeatedly, SwiftKey keyboard not working with some apps, weird app responses and delays.
Some of the issues resolved, new ones cropped up. I'm getting more and more frustrated with it.
Larian has delayed the release of Baldur’s Gate 3, currently on pace to possibly be 2023’s Game of the Year, until they can figure out how to make split-screen work on Series S.
I'm on both kbin and artemis.camp while the kbin API gets sorted out. In the mean time, I'd like to just use one account, as it becomes difficult to track usage for me. I've made my Artemis accounts a mod on the magazines I mod here, but it doesn't show up like that on the Artemis side, and the Artemis account doesn't have mod...
People on the app currently are using the artemis.camp kbin instance, presumably just because they want to help test and use the app now. That's what I'll be doing.
Still Elder Scrolls Online. Tried to pug the new hard mode last night in an old instance, wouldn't recommend. Did ball group stuff in Cyro Friday night.
Just downloaded the Android beta. When I tried to log in with artemis.camp, it took me to Firefox, where I logged in and pressed authorise, and then I went back to Artemis and it said waiting for browser. Now when I press the artemis.camp button again it brings me to a white screen in Firefox, and still says waiting for browser....
Also stuck at the authorization step; I've gotten one error where it says artemis.camp server can't be reached, but the website itself is still available.
Lmao so what would you describe the massive losses Russia has taken in terms of lives, machinery, and munitions, as well as the open revolt Wagner engaged in? If Ukraine is losing fingers, teeth, and hearing, I imagine Russia has full on lost a limb and has bleeding to stabilize.
That rebellion was probably part of Put-daddy's plan tho, right?
So Putin, who is openly saying that the offensive isn't going as planned, is OK sending tens of thousands of soldiers into the grinder agaisnt better equipment, just to go through surplus? He's choosing to have thousands of Russians killed while sitting on equipment that could keep them safe?
What a guy. Noble cause he's after, de-nazi-fying a sovereign nation, while also getting his citizens massacred in tank columns and shoddy equipment while he keeps the good stuff at home.
Unless that isn't what he's doing? But you did just say they were using old stuff on purpose. You wouldn't be wrong, would you?
Sovereign as is the highest authority in the territory. The US is a sovereign nation. European countries are sovereign. In fact, most of the countries on the planet can be described as sovereign nations...
"Sovereign" does nothing to describe the type of governance the country has? Or do you have some wild insight about how sovereign actually means it's an installed dictatorship?
Democratic-> sovereign isn't a backpedal; it's describing two different things. You wouldn't say that me describing some apples as green, and then saying there are 3 of them is somehow a reduction in the amount of green the apples are simple because I didn't call them green again.
Sovereign describes the authority to do things on a territory. Ukraine is sovereign; they aren't a territory of Russia, Ukraine answers to Ukraine on its own political matters. That does nothing to describe or rule-out democracy.
If I say "Ukraine is a democracy, who in 2019 held an election described as fair and free by international observers, in which the citizens elected a president of their own volition", would you realize that me describing Ukraine as sovereign in no way, shape, or form, describes it's elective process?
Think the link is discontinued or something, I can't find it on the Play Store, and they don't have any Android links up rn. I'll just keep waiting patiently...lol
As previous student who was in school when cell phones blew up in usage, I wasn't not preoccupied by my phone because I had to keep it hidden. I was preoccupied with keeping it hidden so I could keep using it. Texting with T9 without looking was a breeze. The only thing that slowed my usage was the fact I only had like 500 texts a month allotted to me.
Making the kids hide it won't make them less distracted. They just become distracted by hiding the phone. I feel like you'd almost have to just ban phones entirely, which today is pretty impractical.
Still rocking my Galaxy Watch 4 and don’t see a need to upgrade yet. Battery life isn’t great but I’ve grown used to taking it off in the evening and letting it charge overnight. Who’s eyeing the new Galaxy Watch 6?
Shit I was worried when I bought the 5 Pro that they'd bring the clicky bezel back, but figured it would be something they commit to doing (moving part=failure point).
From what I understand, stuff from lemmy won't pop up in the All feed until someone subscribes to that sub from lemmy. It won't just pull every post from lemmy on its own, it has to be requested. That isn't a federation an issue, but an interest issue.
You can do probably 60-70% of the game just with base version. You won't be hamstrung by missing meta sets or content. Even then, DLC sets that can be crafted can still be obtained by having someone else craft the for you, or by having access to tables via a guildmate (like 95% sure it works that way, if not, you just need the 3rd party crafter). You'll obviously miss the new zones, dungeons, trials, and skill lines, but you'll still get over a hundred of hours of content.
You can absolutely play this casually. The base game stuff is pretty easy in comparison to how it was, with power creep and such, but it's, at worst, a good, long introduction to the game systems to better gauge your future interest.
I can't speak on that specific timeline, but CP has had a pretty large makeover recently. You still only have 4 slottable abilities, but quite a few have moved to passive status. Unsure if the ones you reference specifically are though, green tree is usually a throwaway tree for me.
If anyone has any questions I run this magazine over on kbin! Its lacking content, but that partially cause no one is there to discuss with. I post PvP clips just to get stuff out there but would love further discussion. I do endgame PvE (no perfectas because I'm not a fan of longterm progs) and run with one of the (arguably) best ball groups on Xbox/NA in Cyrodiil.
I see enough and know a few relatively "rich" people that go against American capitalism. They're obviously not Musk and Gates, but where they have no wants and would be able to weather most any hardship thrown their way, short of the catastrophic medical emergency (but again, that is only a function of American capitalism).
It's hard to point at a specific part of the American system and say "this is what is wrong". I think a lot of millennials are coming to the conclusion that the system is broken and is absolutely stacked against them. Student loans, medical debt, the housing market, stagnating wages amongst record profits across the board, bailouts for banks, Wall St corruption, billionaires paying $50 in taxes, continued failed DoD audits and lost money. There is plenty of money in the system to be "given away" when the receiving party is a corporation or hedge fund or defense contractor or bank.
It also doesn't help that anyone not retiring in the next 20 years is paying into Social Security under the assumption that it's lost money. The devil that is socialist programs is a hard sell when the population blaming you for the "collapse of American Capitalism" actively benefits from a program I'm paying into, but will likely never see benefit from. Universal Healthcare UBI, free school lunches etc seems way more palatable through that lens.
