Currently Spinning: Gunship - Gunship. A really strong debut synthwave offering. Tech Noir, Fly for Your Life, Maximum Black are some standout tracks- the entire album is one of my favorites in the genre. #vinyl#music#nowplaying#nowspinning@vinylrecords
Kyuss - Blues For The Red Sun. Weird release as it appears to have all the same packaging as the US release but is infact a gold varient of the euro release and Sounds fantastic! #vinyl@vinylrecords#NowPlaying
@Whiskeyomega@vinylrecords my friend Joe would be interested in this as he has a large collection covering these folks & associated. We'll be seeing QotSA at Wembley Arena next month and he saw Mondo Generator play locally to us on a small stage the other month.
this month, the @WFMU record fair returns for the first time since 2019! one of my personal happiest places on earth & can't wait (though realllllly wish it was at a spot that's less of a huge pain by public transportation, sadly the expo center in greenpoint closed; check maps before you haul). https://wfmu.org/recordfair/@vinylrecords#records#vinyl#nyc#queens
Early morning quiet, and this track suits quite nicely.
The debut album by drummer #PeteLaRoca as a bandleader.
The track seems to float on the ether, subtly shifting and changing through the beautiful interplay among the band, Joe Henderson on sax, Steve Swallow on bass, Steve Kuhn on piano and, of course, La Roca on drums.
I've heard this story before. Apparently, Rudy was on the verge of losing his patience with the band's experimentation, and came close to canceling the date.
I have been passively looking for these in the shops since returning to vinyl collecting and have never seen a copy worth considering. I finally went the discogs route where there are hundreds for sale. Not sure why they never show up in shops. Classic albums. Starless is easily my favorite #KingCrimson album.
@icastico@vinylrecords In my experience selling vinyl records to shops is not worth the effort. They offer you at most 1/3 of the median selling price on Discogs. Most of the times even less. I wouldn’t offer them my collection. That’s why collectible records only show up at Discogs, Ebay, or at record fairs, where prices are at the same level as on Discogs but you save on shipping costs.
@benthos@icastico@vinylrecords in our house, we called it the "ornette fund" & used it to pay off one of my partner's outstanding debts, purchase a decent amp for myself, then go to florida for a week (with enough leftover to scoop a whole bunch of LPs & mail them home).
