- Miles in the Sky

I know this album is compared to Bitches Brew, but I do like Miles in the Sky better. That is completely subjective and may have something to do with growing up with Bitches Brew, having heard it so many times in my life may make me appreciate Miles in the Sky more.

- the fairly battered thrift store copy of ornette coleman's "free jazz" in which i found a large amount of cash around a decade ago. another LP reanimated by the califone, sounding shockingly bright & wonderful, like it's somehow blurring all the surface noise into something warmer? don't totally get it, but it's awesome. @vinylrecords

W sierpniu 2014 r. ukazał się jego album „Here Comes Now” nagrany z Erin Rioux." (blurb) - Stephon Alexander: Jazz i fizyka, Tajemniczy związek muzyki ze strukturą wszechświata

Grant Green - Alive! (Blue Note, 1970). Recorded live at the Cliché Lounge, Newark, NJ on 8/15/1970. Jazz-funk (or is it funky jazz?) was my gateway from hip-hop to jazz. The closing track Down Here On The Ground is instantly recognizable from the sample on A Tribe Called Quest - Vibes and Stuff. Anything with Idris Muhammad on drums is worth listening to. @vinylrecords

I am really have inflamed vocal cords. I can't speak and because of my sinuses, one of my ears feel 'blocked', so even music is out of the the question.

But when I get back to stereo, could you recommend me some from 1960's and up?

I really love Mastodon, my Heads place, you warm my heart.

- starting to understand the whole "back to mono" thing. these 1948/1949 charlie parker radio recordings by boris rose (plus a few audience tapes) feel so much more present/vivid on this suitcase turntable than they do on my stereo. perhaps psychosomatic, but sounding incredible on this very rainy sunday. @vinylrecords

- great roswell rudd performance, live at studio rivbea, 1976. was the of the arista freedom imprint the precursor to the vintage contemporaries paperbacks? both have surreal art in the middle framed by negative space & a unified textual look across the series, but maybe it was a bigger design trend. (this may have been a niche toot.) @vinylrecords

one of my most prized physical media, Medeski Martin & Wood - Reduxolarians LP, from Radiolarians: The Evolutionary Set (Indirecto, 2009). Captures the raw essence of a mature MMW at the peak of their powers. Illustrations by zoologist, naturalist, artist, and early evolutionist Ernst Haeckel (The Radiolarian Atlas, 1862). @vinylrecords

MMW Reduxolarians LP2. Artwork from Plate VIII, Radiolarian Atlas (Haeckel 1862) - illustrations of radiolarians, microorganisms with intricate silica skeletons.
