I know this album is compared to Bitches Brew, but I do like Miles in the Sky better. That is completely subjective and may have something to do with growing up with Bitches Brew, having heard it so many times in my life may make me appreciate Miles in the Sky more.
Listening back to this in bits to get a full review in my sound system at home. Just increable. Proper slam on the drums on this pressing.
Great pressing. Dynamic rich sound on a flat white vinyl. I met Jez and Andy recently and got it signed so dead happy either way but the vinyl being a good one just adds to the awesomeness of this release . Surface noise is there but quiet.
#NowPlaying Bach: Sonatas and Partitas for Solo Violoncello Piccolo - Mario Brunello.
I will admit, until #Qobuz recommended this album, I was not familiar with Mario Brunello, despite his many accomplishments and my rather rich familiarity with #ClassicalMusic. I have dozens of recordings of #Bach's Sonatas and Partitas, but this is unique for obvious reasons. It is well performed, too.
#NowPlaying - the fairly battered thrift store copy of ornette coleman's "free jazz" in which i found a large amount of cash around a decade ago. another LP reanimated by the califone, sounding shockingly bright & wonderful, like it's somehow blurring all the surface noise into something warmer? don't totally get it, but it's awesome. @vinylrecords#jazz
#NowPlaying - perhaps the perfect califone LP that i've found (so far), standards & light pop, the compressed hum melding perfectly with the thick air of the #PedalSteel, or whatever is creating this magick grey zone between lo-fi and high. @vinylrecords
