I have a theory about how to cure impostor syndrome amongst academics. We just need to get the leading figures in our respective fields together and record them trying to put together various pieces of furniture from Ikea. Anytime any of us are feeling like we are not worthy of being in the company of the great minds that surround us, we can go back and watch the video.

I think Orr/Hustings take on in Uscinskis book is pretty special. CT is a derogatory term they say, specifically to play down (correct) accusations raised by racial minorities. Of course, some CTs are true. However, that is not my intuitive understanding of the standard usage. Rather, I think of antivaxxers, fake moonlanding, etc. But this is my european reading. Maybe different in the US?

Psyched! (2): The Art of Enduring Oneself (Bordt)

A write-up of a Jesuit philospher's take on freedom & emotion. Pretty cool stuff IMHO. And no, there's no theology here. At all.

Can anyone recommend a good book that is both an introduction to and a guide to practically implementing it in one's life? I'd love a recommendation. @bodhidave, any suggestions?

Are We Creating the World?

I believe we are, and this is a great explanation of how it might work. Obviously this isn't a fully proven theory, but it makes sense and explains a lot of the mysterious happenings in life such as miracles and real "magic".

I have been listening to Laufey's new jazz album "Bewitched" non-stop. I am obsessed, and I think it is an artistic masterpiece. I wrote a blog post about it here:

Do any or people know of a good formal treatment of Yablo’s views on ‘immanent’ knowledge closure from his "Aboutness”? The book does not seem to entirely spell out his intended semantics for knowledge ascriptions, but I would be curious to know if others have worked this out.

Hey , do you have any tips on how to intensive topics, like , and ?

Context: I'm used to studying and . For these subjects, I learn through doing a lot of exercise lists and struggling with problems to solve.

I was wondering how to go about making reading more active when working with reading-intensive topics. So far I am:

  • Taking notes (any kind of note, even doodle sometimes) on paper
  • List keywords
  • Copy down interesting quotes and passages
  • Summarize the idea of a chapter in my own words

Are there more ways to go about this? Thanks in advance! 😃

I wrote a using my favorite philosophical phrase as the title and then expanding upon it. I first heard it from my teacher, George Thompson, and I wanted to share it with you all. Here is a special "friends link" to bypass the paywall. Enjoy!
