Deeper and deeper into and people, I went into the Imperial Palace for a special performance of (雅楽), imperial court and of mainland origin that have been performed there since the Heian Period over a thousand years ago. An acquaintance who is a Shintō priestess (see photo) from Nara played two types of traditional flutes that sustain an eerie or higher-worldly atmosphere. The relatively slow and deliberate movements of the mostly male dancers in many-layered gorgeous contumes stand in contrast with the frenetic tempo of modern . We experience as the pace of transformation, and that brief time transfixed with the Gagaku performance was but an interlude from an ancient era in a workday preparing for university classes and a keynote address. Photos will have to suffice to evoke the special atmosphere.

Facing pressure in India, Netflix and Amazon back down on daring films

In the last four years, a chill has swept through the streaming industry in India as Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Bharatiya Janata Party tightened its grip on the country’s political discourse and the American technology platforms that host it.

Honestly, I am just tired of superhero movies. What, it has been 10 years of them? People want something different.

That's why I have retreated to spaces. I also watch Western dramas, but usually one thay doesn't run for seasons. I am also SUPER TIRED of tv shows getting cancelled before there is a proper ending!!

RSF to launch Svoboda Satellite Bouquet for independent journalism in Russia (rsf.org)

My understanding is that many people.in Russia are quite dependent on Russian state satellite TV for access to News amd Information.Prior to the war #Eutelsat facilitated transmission of major #Russian #SatelliteTV services but have reduced their involvement. thanksforallthefish, to ukraine in RSF to launch Svoboda Satellite Bouquet for independent journalism in Russia

I always wondered why more and and programming wasn’t made available to residents. I know there isn’t ahuge commercial opportunity considering the type of broadcast. But content rights for Russia must be very cheap now and the value of such a service huge.

What a great idea ! Let’s allocate €100m out of the EU budget to transmitting TV into the country that has declared its desire to invade about half of our member states ! All the way to Paris was Lavryov’s (sp?) last speech.

Or on the other hand we could allocate that money to another 50 HIMARS or some patriots to stop the missles bombing hospitals, childcare centres and schools.

I vote for dead orcs over entertaining orcs.

Which is faster – IPv4 or IPv6?

One of the early arguments used to encourage organizations to switch to IPv6 was that it’s faster. It’s true – it is intrinsically faster – but the real world being what it is, there are times when you’ll see better performance with IPv4.

I wrote a simple batch file that runs on Windows machines, and I’ve used it at various times around the country and with different ISPs. The results have been interesting. Sometimes IPv4 is faster (as measured by latency of echo replies), sometimes IPv6 is faster, and sometimes the latency is about the same.

Here’s the text of the batch file, so you can create the script locally, run it, and check your results.

@echo off
title IPv4 and IPv6 Latency Test ver 2.3
color 0a

echo IPv6 Latency Test... please wait
echo IPv6 Latency Test Results: > %userprofile%\documents\ipv4_ipv6_test.txt
ping yahoo(.)com -n 10 >> %userprofile%\documents\ipv4_ipv6_test.txt
echo.
echo IPv4 Latency Test... please wait
echo IPv4 Latency Test Results: >> %userprofile%\documents\ipv4_ipv6_test.txt
ping -4 yahoo(.)com -n 10 >> %userprofile%\documents\ipv4_ipv6_test.txt
echo.
color a0
echo Done! Results are stored in %userprofile%\documents\ipv4_ipv6_test.txt
echo.
start notepad %userprofile%\documents\ipv4_ipv6_test.txt
pause

Note 1: You’ll need to remove the parentheses in yahoo(.)com in both ping commands for the script to run correctly.

Note 2: I chose Yahoo for this test because, at this writing, Yahoo allows ping to work on their webservers. If you decide to use a different site, be aware that ping won’t work with some sites. For example, Microsoft disables ICMP on their web interfaces.

If you decide to experiment, I’d love to know what results you get.
