As if children's books aren't already losing visibility due to censorship now this...
This year Goodreads has removed all children's books categories from their Goodreads Choice Awards, meaning no more #MG or #PB categories. Worse, Graphic Novel & Poetry, have also been eliminated.
Here you can vote to ask them to bring those categories back:
The Annotated Classic Fairy Tales is a remarkable treasure trove, a work that celebrates the best-loved tales of childhood and presents them through the vision of Maria Tatar, a leading authority in the field of folklore and children's literature.
Today is the last day of Día de Muertos, All Souls Day, a special time of remembrance of all those who’ve passed on. These two gorgeous picture books describe with beautiful illustrations and words the meaning of this Mexican holiday traditionally celebrated on November 1 and 2.
The power of music and unity are at the heart of this musical and charming picture book. As a little boy walks in the street to share his music, he is rapidly joined by other children from all horizons. All share a love of music and wish to gift it to the world.
Who needs sheep when they can fall asleep counting dinosaurs, unicorns or elves ? These imaginative counting books help young readers to count to 20 with their favorite magical creatures !
Today is the last day of the Dutch Children's Book Week. Every year you can get a free children's book if you spend a certain amount of money on children's books during that week. A while ago I found this Children's Book Week book from 1986 at the thrift store and I figured now was a good time to read it. It's a mixed-media mystery that makes me wish the Book Week gifts wouldn't have such a strict format these days and I can definitely imagine that it could make children excited about reading.

The Witch Boy trilogy by Molly Knox Ostertag is a fun graphic novel series about a boy witch in a family where only girls can be witches. It follows the MC as he navigates friendships, family dynamics, mysteries, and witchcraft. The three books are: The Witch Boy, The Hidden Witch, and The Midwinter Witch. Perfect for ages 8-13 or any fan of graphic novels.

This picture book is truly gorgeous : based on the true story of Mildred, Harriet, Brenda, and Wilma Moody, this non fiction book shows the incredible work realized by the sisters in Southern California in the 30s.
This is the second Moomin book that I have read. It is interesting that it is a Moomin book but none of the Moomin's are in it. It details a number of the other characters and what they do as they congregate at the Moomin's place while they are asleep for the winter.
Back to school time is around the corner ! It is an exciting period for some children and adults, but also a moment of fear and stressful anticipation for others. These great picture books help to prepare young readers for this great moment.
We love this review from Publishers Weekly on THE WORD DANCER by Maxine Rose Schur! This whimsical middle grade adventure empowers kids to use their words to fight injustice and create their own magic.
Dare to Question is such an interesting and important picture book ! This biography shares the endurance, determination and perseverance of Carrie Chapman Catt as she fought for Women's Rights during the Suffrage Movement .
I associate Jon Klassen work with delicious dark humor, originality and beautiful art. The Skull is no different. Retelling of a Tyrolean Folktale, it is the story of an unexpected friendship, a growing experience for Otilla, the young heroine, and a dark gothic tale that will make young readers shiver with excitement and anticipation.
My Bollywood Dream is a love letter to Bollywood movies and to Mumbai. With beautiful illustrations, this picture book is a celebration of dance, music, cinema, Indian culture and dreams.
We were interviewed on-location at the Nottingham Natural History Museum, Wollaton Hall, where I was also able to show one of the hosts some of the historical palaeontology books in the museum's library!
