The Lost Library is a little middle grade book treasure. It is a pure declaration of love to librarians and little free library stewards and how they unite the Community and help make it better. I deeply enjoy this sweet mystery adventure with a paranormal twist. It is simply lovely ! If you love books, cats, cheese, tea and are always on the hunt for a little free library, this book will be a hit !

Nigeria Jones by Ibi Zoboi is a contemporary young adult book featuring a young girl who is trying to spread her wings after a great trauma. We watch Nigeria grow from the beginning of the book until the end. It was such a rewarding experience watching Nigeria throughout the story. Recommend for all readers. Was a 5/5 for me.

This morning I took a moment to read The Book Itch: Freedom, Truth & Harlem's Greatest Bookstore by Vaunda Micheaux Nelson, R. Gregory Christie (Illustrator).

What a powerful little book with beautiful pictures throughout. Told through the eyes of Lewis Michaux, Jr. about his father, the owner of the bookstore we see famous people come to the bookstore, we witness Malcom X's assassination, and of course a lot of books. Highly recommend for ages 3-10.

#MiddleGrade #BookRec this morning.

The Witch Boy trilogy by Molly Knox Ostertag is a fun graphic novel series about a boy witch in a family where only girls can be witches. It follows the MC as he navigates friendships, family dynamics, mysteries, and witchcraft. The three books are: The Witch Boy, The Hidden Witch, and The Midwinter Witch. Perfect for ages 8-13 or any fan of graphic novels.

Finished Wild Girls: How the Outdoors Shaped the Women Who Challenged a Nation by Tiya Miles this morning. I went in expecting a book about the outdoors and was pulled into a book with a diverse cast of historical women in history and their affinity for the outdoors. Highly recommend this short book on women's history. I came away with much more than I anticipated for 128 pages.

Aaron Blabey wrote the Bad Guys series (junior fiction, short graphic novel, movie) and he just came out with another fun little series called Cat on the Run. I have read the first book, Cat on the Run in Cat of Death, and it was just as fun as the Bad Guys series. Highly recommend for the 1st thru 4th grade readers in your life.

I am reading the cutest middle grade novel right now. It's called The Lost Library by Rebecca Stead and Wendy Mass and it's about a boy, a little free library, a couple ghosts, and Mortimer, the library cat. Highly recommend for readers age 8-12.

Finished Sea Witch by Sarah Henning today and enjoyed it. It made my heart skip a beat a couple of times. It is a little mermaid retelling told from the perspective of who we know as Ursula before she became Ursula. It was a fun book.

Finishing up No Laughter Here by the amazing Rita Williams-Garcia this morning. This is a middle grade book (younger MG- main character is in 5th grade) that deals with secrets and when those secrets are too big. This book revolves around a young girl's circumcision over the summer and her best friend's vow to keep her secret.

This is an important read and would recommend to middle grade readers. Does describe FGM.

I finished The Body Keeps the Score by Bessel Van Der Kolk, M.D. I decided that something light was in order after that so I grabbed If Mashed Potatoes Could Dance by Paige Shelton. I think a fun cozy mystery is just what I need right now.

I finished this book last night and loved it. It's set in an alternative Victorian-era world where magic is real. The world is like ours though in that women can't vote and the lowers classes have pretty crappy lives. This book is about three sisters who decide to try to use witchcraft to get the vote for women, but the story turns into way more than that. Fun magic system. It explores family dynamics, power, and is super feminist. Highly recommend. @bookstodon

Grilled Cheese Kitchen, 101 Things To Do With A Potato, The Southern Pantry Cookbook, The No Mess Bread Machine Cookbook, The Art of Preserving, Canning and Preserving for Beginners, Can It and Ferment It, The All New Ball Book of Canning, Freeze Fresh, Complete Cajun Cookbook, Water Bath Canning, Meals in a Jar, Canning and Preserving Bible 2023-2024, Artisanal Preserves

Making bread this morning. Cinnamon sugar bread is up first. It's in the bread machine mixing now.

Now I just have to figure out what kind to make once that's done. I need another sandwich bread because the 15 year old made a pretty Italian loaf, but it's also small. It will only last today for sure.

Have any recommendations for good bread machine cookbooks? I am currently using The No Mess Bread Machine Cookbook and The Ultimate Bread Machine Cookbook.

I have been trying to find something to read, but nothing is standing out to me. I guess I am in a slump of some sort. Any recommendations are welcome. I read just about anything, but very little fantasy. I enjoy nonfiction especially nature or social justice focused. I love middle grade books and some YA. So throw anything at me and maybe I will find something to get me out of this slump.

@snoopy_jay @bookstodon I really just use it to keep track of what I read. I read between 150 and 300 books a year so it helps me make sure I don't buy duplicates or start to reread something I have already read. I used Goodreads for years for this and still check the books I have logged there.
