Combining your wallet (or credit cards) with your cellphone, is foolish and personally irresponsible.
I understand the idea of consolidation and easy access. But phone snatching is so prevalent these days, because of how mindless phone droning makes people unaware of their surroundings. You’re basically just including your ID, credit cards, etc into one neat little package.
I have almost everything in my wallet on my phone anyway. My health insurance pass even got replaced by an app ^1. I only carry my wallet in case my phone dies.
I’ve never heard of phones being snatched, that must be a regional thing. I’ve heard of people getting robbed or pickpocketed, but if someone can steal your phone they’ll probably also steal your wallet anyway.

Does your insurance even cover you in a foreign country? I know my work has a special policy that covers employees who travel abroad because our insurance won’t work there
Only up to local insurance tariffs; private clinics and USA level healthcare costs would be a problem but basic first aid posts should be fine. If I do need to go to a foreign country that charges more, I can buy travel insurance from the same company (or another, if I want to make my life more difficult). Worldwide insurance (including healthcare) costs like €42 per year, or about half that per holiday if I buy it separately.
I use them. But I keep my cards in my wallet in my purse. Putting my cards in the phone case would just cause me to lose them or forget them. Especially sense I change phone cases so much. I don’t need my debit card available when I’m scrolling my phone in bed
As a dude I have pockets to hold my phone and wallet. But if I were a girl their clothes often don’t have good pockets. I would probably carry my phone in a wallet case, keep track of your stuff and the rare risk (depending on where you go) is worth it.
The convenience of bundling is greater than my perceived risk of theft. Maybe if I lived in a place where pick pockets were more common, the algebra would change. Also, my wallet case only has 1 credit card and my drivers license. It’s pretty easy to cancel a credit card, and a new driver’s license isn’t hard to get.
Yeah, but if I get pickpocketed or forget my wallet or whatever, it has a GPS tracker with cellular coverage that can be tracked because of FindMy.
Can a separate wallet?
Where I live, I’m basically zero worried about pickpockets or thieves, but I’m really worried about my own stupidity and losing things.
It’s not foolish or personally irresponsible for everyone. It would be foolish or personally irresponsible to not take steps to be able to find my wallet when I lose it.
I heard something of a joke once, saying if you go out to the beach or wherever and need to leave your wallet and stuff behind, wrap your stuff in a diaper.
Like, who would think to check a supposedly dirty diaper for valuables? LOL, sounds silly enough to actually work though 😂🤣
I would advise against that myself. If your partner or your hotel cleaner find a diaper sitting out somewhere they probably wont hesitate to throw it in the bin. Then you find youself digging through a dumpster and ripping open diaper after diaper hoping its the one containing your wallet and nothing else.
I hear ya there. I think the context of the original joke was specifically for going to the beach though, not like you tend to have cleaning maids come by to take ‘trash’ off your beach towel. 🤷♂️
