It looks like a typical thinkpad rubber back, but with the x1’s “carbon fiber” design cutting through it with a wide diagonal line. Google only gives standard rubber backs. Anyone have any idea what this version of the design is called?
Bought it used (but literally like new, not even a scratch) for €180 and then slapped on it 2x32GB RAM sticks (Patriot, DDR4 3200Mhz, €68 for the two sticks), a 1TB M.2 2280 (WD_BLUE SN570, €54) and a used Intel AX200 Wi-Fi card (€15) for a total of €317 for the laptop + the upgrades (+ this dock as the seller included...
I bought it from eBay. It is the best computer Ive had in a while, even tho is somewhat old. I love it.
Found when browsing Market-Place. Looks like a serious sellers. Although no mentioning of low-ballers and tyre kickers.
I just bought a used “faulty” T430....
I’m planning to purchase a used T480, and want to know how the battery life would be on Linux. Online I see a lot of good numbers, and I am considering carrying multiple of the external batteries, but I want another opinion. Also, do you have any recommends on a good price to “go for it” and any other laptops to consider...
I bought a replacement battery that was not OEM off eBay. After about 4-6 months of use, the thing nearly blew up on me. The battery got so hot it could’ve started a fire. Seriously, spend the extra money, its not worth the risk....
The framework laptop promises to be an upgradeable and repairable laptop, not quite the same philosophy that makes thinkpads great, but I wonder if newer thinkpads are good enough to prefer over a framework.
What is the port to the right on the two USB C ports? To the left of the RJ45. (ThinkPad T480s with integrated graphics.)...
Replacing the crappy panels that come with the T480 with a better 4K panel is a somewhat popular mod, and it seems that most people opted for the BOE NV140QUM-N53 as the replacement panel....
I got the 21K5001JUS, which has the R7 Pro 7840u, 64GB LPDDR5x 6400, and OLED 2880x1800. Ordered it August 20th, shipped expedited on September 1st, and arrived in the upper Midwest this afternoon, September 5th....
I have bought an used T470 for Uni and so far it has been the best laptop I have ever had, and when times comes I need an upgade i wonder how much upgradeable a laptop like this can be.
Left: X61S with 4GB ram....
Sorry for a dumb title. I’m considering two versions of Thinkpad Z13 - one with 3k OLED and another with FHD IPS panel. The first one has obviously a better display quality and gamut range but version with IPS will provide more battery life....
Any Thinkpad user here using their Firewire port? What would you use it for? I read that we can make ad-hoc connection between two computers.
I have a Thinkpad L440 that I use as a daily driver. I was looking for a laptop fan cooler, but I don’t know if a fan base that just pours air from below is the most ideal, considering that the hot air comes out of the fan from the left side....
What is a good source/seller for the EU? The nipple included with my qwerty replacement board for a T480 won’t last much longer… The original one from the qwertz board is lost in space. Any recomendation?...
I currently have a 128 SSD on my computer, but I just bought a new 512GB SSD, and I’ve already installed a temp linux distro but my computer doesn’t boot it, it send me to the screen that you see in the pictures. I don’t know what’s the problem, and I already explored the entirety of the BIOS to see what was going on....
This is my first thinkpad ever. I chose to possess T480 long ago, but my Thinkbook 14s was working fine, and also T480 was not available nearby me (Nepal). Finally when I got a chance to order one from Malaysia, I instantly chose T480 for 1300RM. For Nepali market, it is super cheap (about $270). This is a 16/512 GB variant with...
Gotta have extra trackpoints on hand at all times just in case.
My Thinkpad X250 suddenly stopped working one day. I opened it and I saw this chip left to the Ethernet port. It seems like it has exploded or something like that. Before it stopped working, sometimes it would get as hot as 95°C. Do have any idea of why it would stop working and if so, how I could repair it? Thanks in advance.
I spent way too long to get it working and I was almost ready to give up....
Edit: Conclusion at the bottom...
