I was a diehard Metallica fan up until The Black Album. Hate to admit it but, the video is better than the music. It’s still good. Just… they lost something when they gained fame… everything changes and you can’t keep young anger forever. Damn good video though. Thanks for posting it up. I didn’t even realize they’d released another album.
Minutes to Midnight is an underrated album, tbh. Might just be my nostalgia, but it finishes a pretty damn solid three-album streak of good albums from Linkin Park.
Agreed, though I also have to say that if you haven’t listened to A Thousand Suns recently, try going back to it without listening to earlier LP first. It’s a departure from their first three albums in many ways, but honestly, when taken as a cohesive front-to-back concept album, I think it’s actually their strongest work.
LP just hits hard no matter what, though. Even though I may not like all their later stuff as much, they were always true to themselves and that comes through. I miss Chester :'(
What’s unfortunate is that he’s a great songwriter and has a fantastic voice. Then he goes and uses those gifts to write a song signaling to the most wretched among us.
Also, this is blowing up because far-right agitators like Matt Walsh and co. timed a coordinated promotion. The only part that’s “true” is that everything sucks. The real reasons aren’t in the song.
Only if you sincerely think that punching down at overweight Americans eating Debbie Cakes is an accurate criticism of anything worthwhile.
Try listening to Sturgil Simpson Turtles all the Way Down instead. Or Holy Shit by Father John Misty.
Or if you just want to listen to newer bluegrass and country/western that isn’t astroturfed by wealthy capitalists or white nationalist influencers, you can check out Tyler Childers - the entire album Ballad of Janita and the Dood is a masterpiece. Michael Davies is also an incredible musician and vocalist that “Oliver Anthony” could never be.
