I always liked that the text of this card implies that the target creature’s controller can decline to play a land if they don’t feel like it. They can just be like, nah, fuck that guy. Get him out of here, I don’t want anything for him. (I’m sure that’s also an escape hatch if the player happens to have no lands left in their library.)

Other edge case synergies I can think of are, there’s nothing preventing you from exiling your own creature to play a land. This might work if you have a lot of cheap creatures lying around you don’t particularly like, or better still a zero casting cost one like an Ornithopter or similar. Also, it doesn’t say that it doesn’t work on creature tokens. So if you have a Goblin Warrens or some other kind of monster closet around you can pull out extra lands for “free.” I can’t picture this being a particularly effective strategy, but there you go.

v1605,

It was common in jeskai control to path your own snapcaster in a control mirror

InquisitiveApathy,

I’m sure there are also edge cases where you’d prefer to avoid a deck shuffle so it’s cool that it’s optional. Maybe you’ve scryed something spicy on top deck.

Elixir of Immortality

ClydapusGotwald,

Yes I’m dumb idk why I thought it was called elixir of life. But yes I have that. It’s such good value.

ClydapusGotwald,

Thanks! That looks like a good one to run.

It’s a lot of fun, and easy to play even without spending money! I only use the free coins and am able to get into the events pretty easily. I don’t love the draft because it lacks the give and take of real life, and I usually avoid it since it costs too many coins. The jump in is a lot of fun when it comes with new sets, highly recommend!

Mok98, in New Player MTG Arena (started a week ago)

Definitely jump in so you get some commons and uncommons to get some bulk for your collection, then some constructed so you up a little your rank and get the end of the season rewards

I’d advise on holdin off draft until you’ve built some decks on your own, since deckbuilding is the most important skill in draft. Try to find the flaws each deck has and which cards are stronger than others(considering many possible cases, otherwise you’ll just find situational ones). Last but not least: the less cards your deck has, the higher the probability of drawing that very strong one early.

Yurnero91,

Thank you!

So from your point of view I should focus more on the game modes with the constructed decks and maybe Jump In to build my collection?

MysticKetchup,

Depends on what you want. Jump-In offers a lot of value with 2 rares per 1000 gold and its always an even match since your opponent is always playing jump in. If you want to build a specific deck, playing constructed and buying packs will get you wildcard/gold pack prizes for the rares you’ll need. Drafting is the most gold eviction if you’re good, but you should make sure you have the fundamentals down and look at a drafting guide for the current set.

Danobc, in New Player MTG Arena (started a week ago)

Habe fun. And dont send all the Gold right away.

There are a lot of Codes to redeem Packs. Just Google. There are many sites listing them All.

Yurnero91,

Thanks for the tip! Fortunately I didn’t spend anything yet :)

Razionauta, in favourite theme?

My all time favorite is sliver creatures, I find it so satisfying to see my army to gain so much strength at every piece entering the battlefield. Probably for the same reasons I love decks based on mutation mechanism, even if it’s more fragile, since all power tends to concentrate on a single creature.

rigatti, in [WOE] email said im the only person on earth to get his preview card. thought id share
