Anonymous Mod actions ( sh.itjust.works )

I speak my mind here and sometimes it causes some friction. Having been banned a few times for various dumb reasons what really annoys me is there’s no notice of it, and many will just hide behind a generic “mod” label for banning and deleting. Is there a reason there’s no attribution required for these actions?

I deleted my accounts on other instances. One of them indeed is seen as empty (so fine by me), but the other one still has all my posts on from the perspective of my new instance.

I deleted them at about the same time, both on different instances. One is empty, from perspective of my new instance, but the other one shows all the posts. What am I supposed to do? I share some of my personal stuff online as means of venting so I can possibly reflect through unbiased responses from strangers and I’m...

Why is there a lack of gifs/videos on Lemmy?

I partially know the answer to this question…You cannot host videos directly on Lemmy, but that is understandable, video hosting is pretty expensive, but Lemmy also doesn’t support video embeds(videos don’t play within Lemmy), which means that you will have to open the link in a new tab/window to watch it. Which is pretty...

Lemmy RFCs ( github.com )

We created a new repository for host requests for comment. It is based on the Rust RFC repo and meant to describe how major new features can be implemented. In this way more people can get involved in the discussion, without having to know Rust or getting lost in implementation details. If there is a major new feature you would...

Is it me or are the "trending communities" really bad on every instance?

It seems like the whole feature is running wrong and should probably be hidden until it can be reexamined. Because every Lemmy server seems to have “trending communities” that are just empty new communities or are just single-user bot feeds. And those are fine uses of lemmy! But they’re not “trending”.

That feeling when you're googling the answer to some technical question, and your own Lemmy post appears 4 results down. ( lemmy.one )

Hopefully this kind of content is ok here. Up until recently, when I would be searching for some kind of technical info, the top (and best) results would usually all be Reddit posts. I was very pleasantly surprised to do that this time and find a Lemmy post instead!...

Being logged out on refresh, Firefox

I am experiencing weird behavior on both lemmy.ml and lemmy.ca where refreshing, or closing and reopening my browser, will cause me to be logged out. This seems to be an issue with my browser, Firefox 102.13 on Debian Bookworm, but it does not happen with any other sites with logins. I have tried clearing cookies and site data...
