So the guy in the pic is just a homophobic bigot? Or homophobic but also sexist, on account of the female characters looking as worn as the male characters? I’m too old to understand what woke means, but the guy’s post is also confusing to read.
Nobody knows what woke actually means in cases like these because it basically signifies “anything I don’t like or agree with”.
It usually means you aren’t racist, you don’t hate gay people or any other member of the lgbt community, and treat women fairly. So like… a decent human being.
Peering into my crystal ball, I can see that after release there will be at least one post on here showing these guys and their ilk complaining that you have the option to make a trans/nonbinary character. People gave Solasta negative reviews for letting you pick your pronouns
The novel is more satirical. Over the years I’ve heard complaints that the people who made the movie, either intentionally or unintentionally, toned down the satirical aspect of the humor too much and dummies might consider it an endorsement of that kind of society.

Yeah, satire can be difficult to calibrate. The difference between fanatical and satirical support can be hard to spot. Or just over the top characters for the sake of entertainment without any intended message. And you might be right that it was about the world rather than the intent.

The entirety of human experience and human condition does not fit into 2 “sides”, not even close, so it’s quite the acephalic approach to look at everything through the prism of a very specific one-dimensional line with only 2 sides.

At this point if someone starts talking about how “woke” a game, tv show, movie, or book is I assume they either have no real opinion of their own, or are pushing their own agenda
Just play the fucking game. If you like it great, if you don’t then just move on, or at least write a real review about why it’s actually a bad game
There should be a firefox extension that replaces the word "woke" with something crazy like "alien" or nonsensical like "gluten free"
Since the term means anything you want it to, might as well replace the word itself to anything you want. It's kind like the extension that replaces the word "millennials" with "snake people."
As an aside, it’s refreshing to see in the comments people calling “woke” out. To me, it’s yet another way to say the N-Word without saying it. I think that’s what some people mean by dogwhistling.
