Meow, meow,...
I see there is a fediverse equivalent of Goodreads (Bookwyrm), but is there a fediverse equivalent of Letterboxd / icheckmovies / trakt.tv?...
Sorry. I know it’s getting a bit annoying with all these posts obsessing over this subject but still…...
This post is a sort of partial dump of my efforts towards an idea/proposal for improving discoverability and onboarding for the Fediverse while avoiding new users just being dumped on a centralised instance. I’ve seen people suggest that one of our secondary defenses from megacorp social media (like Meta) is improving our UI,...
I’ve been on Lemmy for some time now and it’s time for me to finally understand how Federation works. I have general idea and I have accounts on three federated instances, but I need some details....
Two important notes: (1) This guide is focused on legal risks that flow from hosting other people’s content, under U.S. law. In general, the safe harbors and immunities discussed below will not protect you if you are directly infringing copyright or defaming someone. (2) Many of us at EFF are lawyers, but we are not YOUR...
I have learned more in the few weeks about self hosting, rust, flutter and other things in lemmy, mastodon and fediverse than in the last few years in Reddit and other social media. Maybe learned more in hacker news. It’s awesome here and love the people here who are wonderful and knowledgeable and teach me patiently without...
Why am I signed out every time I open this? Why can I hardly post anything anywhere? It’s like a dice roll.
With Meta starting to actually implement ActivityPub, I think it would be a good idea to remind everyone of what they are most likely going to do.
Tl:dr: Remember the human, even if the project doesn’t work, it wasn’t as useless as it may seem, resources consumption may be concerning...
I think there’s a need for a social media platform that allows users to create multiple customizable feeds tailored to their specific, fluid interests over time....

If you think Lemmy is a bit too quiet today, that’s probably why....
There’s a major convergence of OAuth/OIDC support across fediverse applications, Matrix is going all-in on it as its root default, and other social web protocols are tagging along as well....
I made the choice of hosting some Fediverse software on a domain name I own, however that piece of software (Akkoma, upgraded from Pleroma) has since become unacceptably unstable, and I’d like to switch to something else. I read that if I’m already federating with other servers, I shouldn’t switch software on the same...
TLDR: This is a long post, so a shorter question you can respond to is:...
I’ve noticed we have bots copy pasting Reddit submissions. Is there a method to block them all?...

I always used old.reddit.com with RES on my desktop. I’ve started using old.lemmy.world now, and I love the familiarity, but I realize how much I miss RES. I wish there was something for the old.lemmy.world that offered the same enhancements.
