In my campaign I made a bard nemesis for the party’s bard to be in competition with. He’s a one-man-band Tortle named Shelldon who is incredibly haughty and superior sounding. The first time they met, Sheldon was performing and one of the party put a silver piece in his collection hat. He looked at it and gave them a judgey look, so the party bard said “fuck this guy” and they had a Dueling Banjoes style battle. The party bard won and Shelldon got butthurt and accused him of bad musicianship. Some cutting remarks fron the party had Shelldon running away crying. I’ve had him pop up again throughout the campaign trying to one-up them.
I would draw the line at “Does the post provide freely accessable, usable, non spam content?” If it’s just a link to to a store, or a unusability tiny sample of content then it’s an ad. But someone just posting unobtrusivly watermarked art or homebrew along with a donation link is fine and benefits the community. (This seems to mostly align with that)
Some subreddits had truly ridiculous politicies, like removing even very high effort, high quality content if is so much as mentioned the existence of a donation link. (Like r/Minecraft)
Other subreddits had excessively loose rules and got flooded with the same thumbnail sized artwork asking for commissions or advertising paid versions.
My favorite part of DMing is to hide some inside joke into a dungeon or campaign. So everything seems like generic fantasy world but upon completing some quest it results in exposing some silly that is some dumb joke my friends.made years ago. That reveal is the best. I think in general it’s that I get to juxtaposition silly things and serious moments throughout.
If its someone else’s art with a watermark, no. If its your own art with a watermark yeah that’s advertising. This would probably have to be a case by case thing, like is this person posting their watermarked art every day? Probably too much.
I was thinking about it more as the "sword of dieting" because it should tell you when you're actually hungry, not just bored or whatever, and will stop glowing when your hunger has been properly satiated so you know when to stop eating!
I like the last sword, a lot of people need life more than others :p, I mean, is it wrong to steal the age of someone who is going to the chair and is going to disappear anyway? I think at least that's a fair deal.
