aejinei, in What are your list of essential iOS apps?

Wipr : No fuss ad blocker, one time payment. StopTheMadness : Native video player on the web (+YT) and many general web improvements. Sequel : Media tracking app (Movies, Shows, Games, Books) with a nice UI. It has a subscription, but the free version has worked well enough for me.

aejinei, in What are some iOS YouTube front ends without ads alternatives?

I’m using StopTheMadness which blocks YT ads and adds native apple media controls to the video players. It’s also got a bunch of other quality of life improvements for web browsing like hiding those annoying banners asking if you want to use the app. The features list is extensive, so check the app store to see if it’s worth the premium. The developer is attentive and has been improving the app a couple times a month since I got it, so it’s been well worth the price for me.

Video lite. But it has some ads which I don’t see because of adguard dns.

I used Video Lite for like a year before I sideloaded uYou+. Video lite is your best choice without sideloading. No video ads and they play in the background without premium, though you get in-app ads past the free trial

+1 for uYou+. Sideloaded it with Signulous.

rckoenes, in What are your list of essential iOS apps?

Since all big service are killing them selfs I lost may of my favourite app.

But Watcht for tracking movies and TV shows is still my favourite. Seems development stopped 3 years ago, but as all good apps still works great

Meta for iPhone, the best network utility tool you can get

Silviecat44, in Trying out these apps is actually fun. Takes me back to the days I was searching for the perfect Reddit app

Different App icon for Memmy for me. Is there a newer version?

notthebees, in Do android reaction work on iOS 16

Iirc it depends on what sms app is being used on the android side. I think it just sends “x person reacted to this reply with y emoji message”

skymtf,

So I did look into IG, google messages and I think one other app does look at the message and phase it, iPhones don’t do this so we can get iMessage reaction but iOS can’t get ours

EshuMarneedi, in Does anyone know the cost of replacing a top case under AppleCare
@EshuMarneedi@lemmy.world avatar

$99.

I also have like 6 installed. It’s helpful right now because posting and commenting frequently hangs forever on submit. The only way you can know your comment got posted is to switch to another app and check!

Jollins, in Lemmy apps on iOS

Mlem has really come along the last few weeks — looks nice now. And definitely more of an Apollo vibe. I checked out of it (and left the TestFlight) once the dev announced it was abandoned but it’s clearly back now.

mintiefresh, in I moved from Windows to macOS for work — and I never want to go back

I use both MacOS and Windows.

I think both have their uses and strengths. I don’t really like putting one down over the other.

scarabic,

Same. I usually say “they both suck.” Neither one really meets my expectations for what a desktop operating system should be able to do these days. Every now and then I find myself wishing for some little feature enhancement in Finder and shucks… that’s just never going to happen, is it?

Thief, in Which browser do you use on iOS?

Used to use firefox until it somehow became shit and was forced to change to safari. Super annoying. Used to be a great app.

This article is ridiculous because it doesn’t mention why these differences exist at all. Like for example Macs don’t have window snapping because Microsoft patented that feature back in the Windows Vista days. & Batch file renaming is a Unix thing. I have always liked Exposé and hot corners and also mission control, but many windows users hate it. It’s entirely subjective and not at all rational. I guess that’s the point of an opinion piece but it really lacks the context that would have made this article informative, just a little research would have been cool.
