Doesn't matter, those weren't maintained either.

The USA has been developing it's weapon systems to counter this scenario for 60+ years.

The F-16's are coming and you Russkies are uberfuct.

They probably have pretty good numbers on what’s been stolen, or will soon.

This war is destroying Russia’s Soviet inheritance. They don’t have the ability to replace what is lost and this is what they have decided to spend it on. But, until they decide to stop, we must continue to insure all of it is destroyed.

Why do they put up this show? They obviously have a huge disdain for democracy. Who is this charade for? Who believes it?

zephyrvs, to europe in Kremlin Says 'Theoretically Possible' to Not Hold Presidential Elections in 2024 as "it's already obvious that Putin will be elected"

What a stupid move by the Russian state. If they’re so convinced that Putin will remain in power, they’d hold elections. Navalny is in jail and the opposition will probably try to mount an attack, but unless their domestic security services know something they’re not telling, it’s quite baffling why they’d openly admit to such weakness.

I mean, they’ve embedded Zelensky’s move to postpone elections in their own propanda.

Imperialism breeds stupidity.

albert180,

Since when do they care about if their propaganda makes any sense? They tell all the time opposite things a day later they proclaimed the other thing

0x815,

No, this is new. The Kremlin reacted to this report before and now says that as Putin "obviously"wins, they might not hold an election at all.

0x815, to europe in Russia Sentences Navalny to 19 Years Behind Bars in 'Extremism' Trial

Moscow City Court refuses to give details of Alexei Navalny’s sentence

Ladies and gentlemen, there will be no comments from the representative of the State Prosecution today. That’s it for today, most likely — there’s no point in waiting. Follow this chat, our website and Telegram channel to get official information on Navalny’s sentence. So far, to date, we have no further comments,” Vadim Polezhaev, the Moscow City Court’s deputy officer in charge of media and public relations, told reporters following the August 4 hearing.

19 years for pro democratic activism and uncovering corruption. Fuck me.

I hope that people in Russia who think that Stalin was cool are okay with Russia also meandering towards the kind of political repression that existed in Russia then, because that does seem to be part of what they're likely getting.

rustyfish,
@rustyfish@lemmy.world avatar

Under Putin criticising Stalin is seen as an attack against Russia. Now there is half a generation of young people not aware of any wrongdoings by him. But it is not only the lack of education. You always have the wilfully ignorant who dwell in romanticised versions of the past or those who knowingly act in malice. The latter is really funny to me. They kinda think they are exempt from any oppression until the shit show inevitably hits them too.

Umbra, to ukraine in 700,000 Ukrainian Children Transferred to Russia Since Invasion

Yeah, and the vast majority are refugees fleeing the war, willingly to Russia (almost like there's a civil war going on??). It's like saying Poland has kidnapped a million Ukrainian children, that's the equivalent drivel here.

nuke,

Russia invaded Ukraine. If you’re trying to paint this as a civil war, I request the mods to ban this account immediately.

Umbra,

Russia intervened in the Ukrainian civil war with the recognition of the two breakaway republics. But my point with the civil war comment was that Ukraine has millions of people who are siding with Russia and will escape the war by going to Russia (and bringing their kids with them).

Fresh Details on Russia’s Forcible Transfer of Ukrainian Children (May 2023)

The report [by tbe OSCE] noted that forcibly deported children were placed in an unfamiliar environment far removed from Ukrainian language, culture, customs, and religion. It also found that many such children were exposed to military training and “to pro-Russian information campaigns often amounting to targeted reeducation.”

The report also underscores how changes in Russian law enabled authorities to swiftly give Russian citizenship to Ukrainian children, facilitating their guardianship and adoption by Russian families in Russia, even though many of the children may have living relatives, including in Ukraine.

Russia deports thousands of Ukrainian children. Investigators say that’s a war crime (February 2023)

The report [by Yale Universty researchers] describes a system of holding [children] facilities that stretch from the Black Sea coast to Siberia. […]

Ukrainian officials say Russia has evacuated thousands of Ukrainian children without parental consent […]

The Ukrainian children transported to Russia range in age from teens to toddlers […]

“In some cases there is adoption, other cases summer camp programs where the kids were slated to return home and never did,” he says, “and in some cases they are re-education camps.”
