People at the CIA need to be held accountable for the atrocities they have caused!

InvertedParallax, to worldnews in Bolsonaro’s Butchery: CIA Fingerprints are All Over Brazil’s Indigenous Genocide

Wow, this is… words.

Bolsonaro was a piece of shit by any standards and cannot be defended.

Lula and the other one were also fairly corrupt, not to excuse any of bolsonaro’s evil in any way. They didn’t help their people enough, so the right landowners just waited long enough for their chance to take everything back.

At the end of the day the Enfiteuse system has to be broken, because it’s an infinite power base the right always uses to get back into power, until its destroyed by hard land reform there is no point discussing much in Brazil, its like trying to discuss urban renewal in Pompei, the day the volcano exploded.

Stop blaming us, I doubt we like those pieces of shit either, you can’t do business with people who don’t believe they should ever pay for anything.

Intriguing takeaway, I’ll have to reread the detailed article demonstrating the many pro-Israeli constructs embedded into daily life and chew on it to confirm though.

Damn that’s a fucked narrative. Why don’t they also say the “cost” of ending slavery??

Usually it’s good to not do unethical things that cause immense harm, regardless of how much $$ could be made by doing the terrible thing.

War has always been good for business. Which shows you just how much “business” is bad for people.

Indeed, Rule of Acquisition #34 clearly states that. But also remember Rule of Acquisition #35:

Peace is good for business.

People always get the two mixed up.

Yeah. The Ukraine invasion is about cultural genocide and money. I feel so bad for any Ukrainians stuck in occupied territory right now.

Such a dumb comparison for the headline …

bermuda, to worldnews in Israel in Search of Its Hiroshima: Massive Bomb Wipes Out 20 Apt. Buildings, Kills, Wounds 400 Civilians

Comparing 400 to ~110,000 is certainly one of the choices of all time. Pretty much all killing is heinous imo, especially in this instance, but could we leave the atomic bomb comparisons for elsewhere?

SaintWacko,

Yeah, if we use that comparison now, what are we going to do when they actually use an atomic bomb?

Bitrot,
@Bitrot@lemmy.sdf.org avatar

It’ll sound something like “Blast rocks Gaza scattering radioactive debris for miles. Biden says ‘That wasn’t good, guys’ as US deploys an additional carrier to the region. And now, sports.”

This war we started replacing missles, attacks, with “blasts”. Like the hospital attack was a “blast”. Like a gas line blew or an oopsie. Anytime they want to water down what happened it’s just a enigmatic “blast”.

Israeli line for civillian deaths “well that’s war”. The world will remember how casual Israel is about it’s genocide. It rolls off them like water.

Regarding the final piece, the global south already knows US integrity is a joke. At least the leadership is giving younger citizens a more accurate view of what US foreign policy actually looks like, conveniently under a “liberal” president.

Uprise42,

Pretty sure more liberals know Biden is far from liberal. He’s center at best but even he probably leans right on a global scale.

Bitrot,
@Bitrot@lemmy.sdf.org avatar

He is what passes for a liberal in the US. Obama, either Clinton, nearly any other democrat would do exactly the same thing he is doing (which is unfortunately the same thing Trump would be doing). Strong echoes of the Iraq war.

agitatedpotato,

Obama said he thinks his own policies are in line with Reagan. Biden falls to the right of that on some issues, including to the right of Reagan on Israel.

Even if there were a thousand Hamas commanders somehow at the camp, it wouldn’t be a valid excuse.

zerfuffle,

Hamas commander visiting his family? That makes his family all Hamas. His family talks with other people? They’re now Hamas, too.

So on and so forth until you can justify bombing anything that moves.

AnneBonny, to privacy in The Ghosts of the Worldwide Surveillance Apparatus Show Their Hand

I watched Citizenfour recently, and it is remarkable how little has changed. I wonder whether people have forgotten or they just don’t care.

HurlingDurling,

People don’t want to belive it’s possible. Whenever I tell friends and family about this they truly dont belive this will ever happen to them and if it does, they don’t want to understand the ramifications and just say it’s fine.

AnneBonny,

I bet you’re right. There is probably a lot of people who are in denial.

WebTheWitted,

Most people have. I was hopeful that the extension on FISA / section 702 would get removed from the NDAA today but it looks like that failed 65-35. I suppose some hope still remains as it works it’s way through the house, and / or the extension ends.

Not holding my breath, though.
