Only a troll farm could produce such a shit-take. Guiado was voted president by the Venezuelan people, but petro-dictator-for-life Maduro got his ass saved by Russia.
In what world was Guaido elected president lol, he was president of the assembly yes but that has nothing to do with being president and that specific title is not put to a democratic vote
I think the time for the USA to act on BRICS has already passed. The longer it goes the closer-knit the group becomes and any attempt from the USA to disrupt it now could backfire immensely by galvanising BRICS and the prospective members. Could you imagine the USA getting sanctioned by all those countries?
Israel: Make sure the hate continues into next generation by traumatizing children, so that even if Hamas is destroyed, there are seeds for new islamic terror groups 🤦🏻♀️ This will never end like this…
The article was a little confusing, he was a high ranking member but never the leader. Tirofijo was the leader from the late 60s until 2008. Alfonso Cano led for a few years before he was killed in a raid. He was also a hardliner, peace would have been unlikely.
This is not a super surprising move. The last FARC leader Timochenko is free and the president of the successor political party, I’m sure the US would prefer he and others were also in a US prison instead of Colombian politics. They seem to be doing a good job of reintegrating, at least from the outside. There are dissidents that continue to fight, but in much smaller numbers.
They did. The headline using “despite” is somewhat confusing and makes it sound like the sanctions were simply ignored. TT advocated with US leaders and petitioned for a waiver, which was granted.
It is an opinion piece against the sanctions, because they make everything slow even with the license and any access can be modified at the whims of the US.
Lots of claims in this article, yet very little to substantiate the claims, or any counter arguments regarding them. That's not proper journalism at all.
BRICS is a bit of a joke outside of China and India. The other countries are all extractive economies that are highly dependent on commodity prices. That has largely led to those countries being economic basket cases. Venezuela would be the worst of that by far. Chavez took a middling economy and destroyed it. Maduro was keen to carry the torch afterward.
Not exactly sure on his exact wording but Ledezma, a lawyer, called for deaths and confrontation between Venezuelans. Whatever his angle was, it seems to have backfired.
Found more details on it for you, according to euro.eseuro.com “an arrest warrant against the former metropolitan mayor, Antonio Ledezma currently in exile, as well as his extradition from Spain.
The measure announced on August 21 by Saab, in a speech broadcast on VTV, obeys statements made by Ledezma during an interview with journalist Patricia Poleo in which he stated that the only way to register Maria Corina Machado as a presidential candidate it was “setting civil disobedience in motion.”
He even mentioned that he talks with the military without revealing names, but he clarified that it was not a matter of conspiracy.”
But you’re right, weird it wasn’t referenced. I’d assume the article’s intention was to tell folks in the loop the latest development as it’s an intricate storyline.
