I guess there’s more of a chance someone will actually read it when you post here. What’s disturbing me is how many of the comments on Reddit were just bots or farmers? I bet… Many
Louis Rossmann really made some great points that a 2 day blackout doesn’t mean anything in his recent video. People need to understand that it won’t hurt Reddit at all of subreddits just start functioning normally after 2 days.
They took my RiF. The CEO seems like an absolute bastard. It got more and more toxic over the years. I can take some abuse but this was a bit too much. If it continues to be popular I’ll use it for information gathering just like always, but they wont get any content, interaction or ad revenue from me.
This blackout thing, while surely sending a message, will be pointless in the end imo. The bosses have decided how they want to proceed and that’s that.
The CEO is an absolute bastard. He’s twisted the words of his “friend” Aaron Swartz, the real founder of the site, and bastardised his creation while trashing his legacy.
The blackout isn’t pointless, it’s just not yet enough. Reddit needs to die, and the blackout is a step towards that. It started as a way to try and get admin to change, and in that respect it has and will fail, but it is the first step to reddit going the way of digg.
Honestly this flag is lit, an amazing spin on the design and symbolism of the classic black eagle found in so many different flag. My only gripe is that, as a flag, it is more like a coat of arms placed onto a boring white background.
This is something that lemmy devs need to better address. This is an "Eternal September" kind of situation. People (me included) are not used to the fediverse. They think you can participate only if you're in that instance. And people want content, so they think "why's the instance with most people? Ahh lemmy.ml? Cool, let's join.
yeah. i think the other problem is that people don’t know if the instance would be good performance wise. i.e. i joined lemmy.ml because it was the one i found first.
A good way to handle it would be to have an instance list. with number of users vs maximum users. like joining a server in a video game. if i see its super full, i’ll pick another server. of course, we’d need some large banners to make sure people know they won’t be missing out on other instances.
Think of it like email providers. You can go with Gmail, Outlook, Proton(mail), or even host your own server, but you can email anyone no matter which provider they’re on, because they all follow the same standard.
When I was 12-13, I had a period of time where I absolutely could not cut through a pepperoni. What I did was to move the slices around before baking, however. This is the work of a sick mind.
