Shit you could have had them uncloaked and I’d still not be sure which I should select because I wouldn’t know if they were Klingon or Romulan.

Sabre363, to risa in Q mode captcha

Considering this image covers a minuscule sliver of the sky and exclusively shows distant galaxies outside of our own, there probably aren’t too many Klingy Bois hanging about.

You are technically correct, the best kind of correct.

Sabre363,

It would be illogical to be incorrect

Gotta look for the tell tale shimmer. Don’t forget to rub mud on your starship so that the bird of prey can’t see you.

Just let me recalibrate the deflector to emit an anti-matter pulse on a rotating frequency and…….found it! It’s 100 meters off the port bow.

Now just recreate the whole scene with the duck characters.

_stranger_,

I’m somehow disappointed the cat isn’t also a duck

Spot,
@Spot@startrek.website avatar

I’m not sure if I could handle it then, this one dips into the uncanny valley, or something, as is.

Rednax,

That would be like Mickey Mouse having a pet mouse, or Donald Duck feeding the ducks in the park, or Goofy having a pet dog named Pluto.

FunkyMonk,

Daduck

aeronmelon,

Oh, how terrifying.

You think that the Easter eggs in the ship diagram in Engineering is just for fun, no. It’s actually canonical to the series.

How is an automobile, a prop plane, a rubber duck, and giant Dremel canon? Remember what the Enterprise-D is to Starfleet. It was the biggest, most luxurious starship ever built. It was designed to have a large population of civilians. Remember the first episode of TNG? That display in Engineering is not privileged access, there were families with children consulting the display to find things on the ship. Engineering is a critical area, but it’s not classified. Starfleet wanted civilians to visit and see the crew in action.

In addition to being a Carnival Cruise liner, it’s the Enteprise! The flag ship on a permanent first contact mission. They wanted attractions onboard for the residents and visitors to enjoy. There’s an old Earth automobile on display, there’s an old Earth airplane on display. The drill is clip art of a drill, but what if it was meant to represent an old Saturn rocket? It makes sense that Enterprise would have a small museum onboard in addition to other attractions like the arboretum and holodecks.

So… why a duck? Because there’s someone else living on the Enterprise. A certain aquatic species of Earth that turned out to be far smarter than they were originally given credit for. The duck was their idea. They insisted. They just really like rubber ducks. So a giant one was installed on the Enterprise at their request.

Bonus fanon: They really do decorate it for Christmas. They just forgot to take the decorations down and Data got confused.

EmergMemeHologram,

Is it whales? Dolphins? Who chose the duck ?

I just wish eggnog’s flavor was as celebrated as pumpkin spice.

put that shit in everything.

CarlsIII, (edited )

I wonder if all the pro pumpkin spice stuff is a backlash against all the anti pumpkin spice stuff that was going around a while back.

https://www.huffpost.com/entry/when-exactly-did-pumpkin-spice-lattes-become-basic_n_59c2bad2e4b06f93538c072d

I’m not aware there has been any similar anti egg nog movement, so people probably aren’t as passionate about defending it.

Although I began making this post before I finished reading the above article, which suggests the pumpkin spice backlash was a result to pumpkin spice already being “everywhere,” so I guess if you want more people to celebrate egg nog, force egg nog into everyone’s faces, and then support the newly emerging anti egg nog movement until people who like egg nog start being more vocal about their love of it going forward.

Oh yeah, it definitely is. A lot of it is because a lot of weirdos like pumpkin spice, too. It got labeled as a “basic” thing as though being boring and enjoying simple pleasures isn’t what’s available to most people living in poverty, which when 60% of the US lives paycheck to paycheck… is the majority of people. Most people are boring because it’s what we have access to and time for, and a lot of folks are done being vilified for it as though your choice in coffee speaks to some larger issue about you. It doesn’t.

It’s really in many ways an unintentionally classist dig on people who like sweets or just simple things.

Indeed, there’s not as many passionate Nogg Hogs.
