Coming from RIF, what is your personal favorite Lemmy app?
After saying goodbye to RIF and reddit, it’s time for me to move on. So far I’ve used 4 apps for Lemmy and this is my personal ranking:...

So last decade was filled with corporate social media: Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Reddit, etc. And I mean it still is but perhaps if we play our cards right we can make 2020 the age of decentralized social media? Maybe we won’t end up being the top 5 pages on the internet but we just have to grab a good portion of people to...
I’ve seen many comments and posts regarding the API fiasco on Reddit, with the claim that there will be a huge influx of users when that happens. I’m all for it, but I find it hard to believe that the average or even above average user will make the effort to switch.

Hey everyone!...
Follow his page for access to the playlists. These don’t feature his own music since he’s a synthpop act....
Like how RES + old reddit had shift + x to toggle all photos being opened.

So I've not seen it mentioned before, but if you want to start getting into private trackers, you can check out the private tracker general thread (/ptg/) on the /g/ board of 4chan...
Any tips, recommendations, warnings or cool sessions you played last week?
Let’s say I self-host something like wefwef (Lemmy front end) locally, so I can see it on localhost:port on the machine where it’s running with Docker, and also on my other devices on my same local network by accessing 192.168.something.something:port...
Instead of categorized instances (where communities are related to each other’s interests) (but I have seen people who don’t like the idea stil it’s ok), I have another idea of an “Admin’s Choice/regional/neighborhood” feed aside from my “subscribed”, “local” and “all”....
I am about to start my own blog and I even already have a few blogposts ready, but I can’t decide with a static website generator. There are so many and some advertise as being ultra fast but I don’t really think I could notice a difference between a second and 3 seconds of generating a website. Any opinions?
I recently discovered that you can paste image data from your clipboard to a post or comment field, and it will upload the data and generate an embed link. I assume, since the clipboard is ephemeral, that the data is uploaded and stored on the server immediately....
Back in the olden times, I was an avid user of Google Reader. I had dozens of RSS feeds and went through my feeds religiously. When Reader was killed I jumped to Feedly, and while it was alright for a while I just couldn’t get into it and eventually fell off and found Reddit....
I made a post around a week ago that really took off, and figured we are probably going to see a small spike in activity due to the reddit migration, so I thought we could give it another go!...
Prove me wrong, I dare you!

It’s not the kids, not the lurkers, not the mods… y’all just nice people. Lemmy’s got a good vibe going… or at least enough windows that we can close if the vibe gets shit.
Hi. I’m new (as I think we all are). I tried to join, and the “subscribe” button is just text, it doesn’t do anything. Does anyone have the same problem? I’m posting from another instance....

Is there a community to request the creation of other communities? Like, there’s a few topics that I’d like to discuss but it doesn’t seem like there have been any communities made for them yet, so is there a place where I can ask for those to be made? I only ask because moderating a community is a big time sink, otherwise...
I would like to find a list of lemmy communities to find similar to the ones i left behind on reddit...
