I respect your policy above but you may run into declining response rate in the long term without some kind of feedback, as there will be a ‘what is the point’ feeling. I may be wrong of course (and hope I am!), just something I’ve seen at work. I completely get your reasoning though.
In all honesty nothing in particular, moreso that I want to explore what’s possible. I used IFTTT for things like switching WiFi on when my phone was in a specific location, saving emails with receipts/order confirmations to somewhere central like Google Drive (though trying to find a non-google alternative). I also liked the Pocket integration.
So it’s not exactly sophisticated but cucumber water. I love it, every time I go somewhere that has cucumber water I always think I’m somewhere posh (even though it costs pennies).
I can’t say I got that impression from them to be honest. Feels like you have assumed a lot from a couple of comments (though I totally get being jaded after a while of seeing the same kind of thing).
I think this could be a really interesting thing to explore both sides of the argument as I do think you have a point. Just seems like you’re both interpreting it differently in terms of tone (which I guess fits in a way, given your stances)
Can’t say I’ve noticed it on Beehaw but I have on some other instances. Just posted in one actually - was an interesting discussion on the nature of violence in media. One person immediately lashed out at the person and I’m struggling to see why as they were being civil and were just exploring ideas.
I think it’s a wider thing than Lemmy or even the internet. It feels like some kind of way of getting control over something for people who lack any control in other aspects of their lives. They can have it if they’re ‘right’ even if they have to attack people for it.
It’s been a good but intense week so far. Back to work with a 3 day intensive python course, which was interesting (and a long time coming, I have asked for training for 3 years now). Looking forward to putting it into use now I understand the basics.
Otherwise not a lot to write home about. Looking into new choirs prior to the new term starting, in one already but quit the second one I was in as the music wasn’t to my taste.
