When I die I hope it’s doing 2 of my favourite activities- sitting and doing nothing.

quinacridone,

And proper webs too! Nice and prominent with the owner sat in the middle :)

The day after I took this photo we came back for another walk, just as a bee unfortunately flew into the web. I was going to try and rescue the bee, but it would have been covered in web and basically doomed anyway…so we let the spider deal with it

Here’s all the action lemmy.ml/post/4729765

quinacridone,

Aw, thank you!

quinacridone,

They don’t bother me like that, probably because I know that they’re always outside just chilling in their web…I think I’ve managed to overcome my primal instincts regarding creepy crawlies and snakes and so on, in that I’ll try and catch them and pick them up for a closer look

It probably helps that I live in the UK though, and not Australia or other tropical place…they have some mental things there

quinacridone,

I just commented about it looking like Alien over at your post at !Photography

quinacridone,

Looks like something from Alien, really atmospheric!

Where are all the Positive, Wholesome Communities gone, and where are all the hugs, where is my wholesome memes, to help me fight, the politics

Hey, I’ve been looking at what I’m subscribed to on Lemmy and it really grim, and not really what I want from a social media. I’m into tech, but the tech subs talk about evil things companies do, a lot of linux meme and programmer humor, and it’s all cool and all, piracy talking about how it’s bad what certain company...

If you like art there’s…

!abstractphotography

!collage

!printmaking

also

!traditional_art

!artporn

I’ve curated some other art communities in the side bar at !artistlounge including watercolour, art share and one of the photography communities

There are also lots of science and nature communities on mander and beehaw, if you search by ‘all’ in the communities tab at the top, type and just go down a few rabbit holes…nudibranchs, orchids, botany, minerals, geology, animals and pets etc all exist, you just need to start searching

Happy trails :)

edit forgot !awwnverts and !natures_patterns

quinacridone,

Sorry about the links, they should (hopefully) work now :)

quinacridone,

Looks like fun, thanks

quinacridone,

Also I forgot this which may/may not be of use

!trendingcommunities

It lists all the trending communities by activity and subscriber numbers, I’ve found a few interesting places that way :)

quinacridone,

see the comment below, re trending communities, I replied to myself instead of you

quinacridone,

Her books are worth a look at too, lots of really beautiful paintings and how to guides. I buy them thinking I’ll have a go, then realise how crap my attempts will be and end up not starting anything…

quinacridone,

That is a really nice picture

quinacridone,

Thanks for the link, I’ve not seen the London ones before, I’ll have to check them out properly when I’m not on my mobile. Cheers

quinacridone,

I’m intending to do something similar as a collage experiment. I’m expecting it to be incredibly fiddly to the point that I’ll be tearing my hair out.

I also expect it to look really crap

quinacridone,

Do you mind if I cross post this to !printmaking or post it over yourself? Cheers :)

quinacridone,

It really gives it a luminous quality doesn’t it? Like the sun just breaking through a gloomy sky, I love the water too. She’s another print maker whose work I want to explore

quinacridone,

Will do…lots of interesting things out there to discover :)

quinacridone,

I’ve just had a quick search, as I didn’t know that there was an illustrated version, Rockwell Kent did some beautiful prints. I’m going to check out his work including his paintings, he did some really nice landscapes, especially the Greenland ones. Cheers

quinacridone,

I’ve just noticed a ‘zombie’ like quality of the image as a thumbnail, which is quite weird. It’s the yellow walls that make the face, looking like sallow skin on top of the exposed ‘muscle’ of the jaw and mouth

Ooooo creepy!

quinacridone,

Was going to say it looks like Nausicaä, I’ve got the manga books, beautiful images and fantastic story. He does female protagonists really well

quinacridone,

Nice, I’ll check it out
