monerobull,

NetData

That looks more like it’s mainly focused on server-monitoring, was looking for something way lighter and Subz seems to be perfect :)

monerobull,

Sharing is caring <3

monerobull,

Genau sowas hab ich gesucht, vielen Dank!

monerobull,

Looks like it’s quite popular in Japan.

monerobull,

As long as a LLM doesn’t run into a corner, making the same mistakes over and over again, it is magical to just paste some code, ask what’s wrong with it and receiving a detailed explanation + fix. Even better is when you ask “now can you add this and this to it?” and it does.

monerobull,

Not really your question but Revolt is basically a 1to1 copy of discord in terms of UI.

monerobull,

can’t down everyone at once

Well not until the next catastrophic federation bug gets discovered and abused 💀

monerobull,

From what I’ve read so far, the mk4 could support path shaping but it just isn’t implemented in the software yet and so the Bambu prints roughly twice as fast.

monerobull,

Thank you for the detailed reply. What do you think about the new Bambu P1S? Looks like the main difference to the carbon is no lidar and a worse screen and with the ams addon it’s 1000€ vs 1500€ for the carbon. I’m seriously considering getting the P1S.

monerobull,

I’ve also seen that bambu sells fairly priced replacement parts themselves and them offering upgrade kits for the P1P gives them some street cred as well. I was mostly worried because I heard that bambu printers upload all models into the cloud first and lose a ton of functionality without it (and the RFID spool thing could be used for DRM filament) but it looks like you can always print from SD card.

monerobull,

You will also not get the benefit of the automatic calibration features.

You are talking about the lidar? It can still auto-bed-level without internet right?

monerobull,

Alright, thank you!

monerobull,

That doesn’t sound too promising 😓

monerobull,

I really want automatic bed-leveling and multi-color printing.

monerobull,

Thanks for the input. I’m mainly worried they rugpull us by doing something like nfc proprietary filament once they have a big enough customer base but the P1S is just killer value compared to any other fdm printer. I commissioned some 3d models this week and have friends who ordered a carbon so I’ll probably get a P1S in a couple of weeks (unless the recently trademarked bambu models are even better value).

monerobull,

Well they already have a nfc checker in the ams.

monerobull,

Monero.town is very lax when it comes to moderation as long as you don’t say anything that could get you arrested in Germany.

monerobull,

This issue should be solved if you could just set lemmy to not cache federated NSFW images (without fully disabling NSFW on your instance) since then users would load the images from the remote server and not the homeserver.

monerobull,

True, guess not caching remote content at all should be an option as well. Then you can just block caching for every instance that doesn’t enforce proper tagging.

monerobull,

No, defederating would block all flow between instances. The problem is with hosting content that you don’t want to or arent allowed to host. Currently if I view a image from burggit, the image gets saved to the monero.town and then served whenever someone else views it from there, which is a problem. If instead every time someone wants to view that image, it gets pulled from burggit again, monero.town isn’t in trouble for hosting it anymore.

monerobull,

Haven’t tried bard but use ChatGPT to write/debug scripts and SAP stuff. Also asking it when I have simple but technical questions.

I am also downloading and running the latest models in the local LLM space every 2-3 weeks, just waiting for the point at which they finally take over gpt3.5 at which point I’ll probably not touch ChatGPT again.

monerobull,

I’ve made like 150$ off of r/cryptocurrency moons from the few comments I’ve left there but it wasn’t a great move by reddit. The quality of the entire subreddit took a nosedive and there were different meta strategies to earn moons like sob-stories à la “I’m living in a third world country and make money farming moons”.

If they expanded this experiment to the entire platform, the entire site will become truly unusable.I hope they do it lol.

What are the reason most of the outside internet hates the fediverse

I feel like if you scroll through any area outside of the fediverse you will here MASTODON SUCKKKKS OMG I HATE IT SO MUCH, it’s gonna fail. or comments saying mastodon will only exist for another year tops. Keep in mind I know in terms of microblogging apps for the fediverse mastodon is not the best, calckey is likely the best...

monerobull,

Same reason people fanboy over anything. They have made a personal investment in something, be it time or money, and are now trying to justify it by saying everything else is trash.

Then this gets reinforced by their bubble and more and more extreme opinions form. Reasonable people don’t behave this way.

monerobull,

I like lemmies approach of not trying to reinvent the wheel and just let people put their matrix usernames into their profile for secure communication.

monerobull,

I don’t get what would defederating with Facebook-federated instances gives you, though.

Means the instance isn’t part of the hive mind and we obviously can’t have that!

monerobull,

Good thing we don’t have custom emojis on monero.town and the admin account isn’t used for things outside of the local community :D

I should feel bad about myself for selfhosting using Yunohost?

I recently got into the world of self-hosting, and although I’m doing it through a VPS I’ve learned many interesting things, even so, I’ve only had my VPS contracted for 10 days, and of those 10 days, 8 I spent burning my head learning concepts that I had never heard or understood, and actually it’s funny because I...

monerobull,

Yunohost is awesome, if only for the dyndns. I try to host most of the stuff in docker but dyndns never quite worked for me unless it was the yunohost one.

monerobull,

After moderating a bigger subreddit and seeing just how much spam there was in the comments and just how many people spend time replying to these bots I basically stopped reading them. Here I haven’t see bots yet and at least my home instance watches out that it stays that way.

monerobull,

I think instance admins will just have to make sure they don’t have bots on their platform and block instances that do a bad job at it leading to others getting invaded.

monerobull,

My home instance requires you to submit proof that you are human by either posting on an existing social media account or anonymously by sending 0.01 XMR (about 1.5€), that system is really hard to game (i guess you could spend a bunch of money on accounts but those would get banned and the funds would just pay for hosting lol).

[Question] Is it worth redoing?

Hello! I recently set up a small instance running on pleroma which was my first time setting up something like that. I’m currently thinking about abandoning it, wiping the computer, and doing everything over again, this time with all of the knowledge I have now so Ill mess less things up, a dramatically better site name, as...

monerobull,

Just a tip, you should change the default pict-rs logging to “warn”, the pre-set default logs wayyy too much and causes really noticeable bloat on smaller instances :D

monerobull,

That is a very cool interface :D

monerobull,

I’m weirded out by the fact that they offered a “lifetime” subscription for rather cheap. That’s not something you do if you want to get indefinite funding for your video platform (hosting video is expensive).

monerobull,

Perhaps some billionaire would adopt you and make a game out of defending you :P

monerobull,

Ugh… So people interested in decentralized networks are interested in decentralized networks. Shocker.

Btw I believe we’ve been here quite a bit longer than you, I’ve set up the first monero Lemmy instance about 5 months ago…

monerobull,

The nice part about federated software is that there are other instances you can join :D

monerobull,

While youtube vanced is falling apart, vanced music is still running just fine for me :D

monerobull,

I mean vanced. I was too lazy to set up revanced and instead tried out NewPipe. I hate how I don’t have my really optimized suggested page on NewPipe but I get around that by using vanced to browse and then opening the video in NewPipe via the share button. A nice plus of NewPipe however is how my subscriptions now really are just the channels I really care about and not the 1000 random ones I’ve subbed to over the last few years.

monerobull,

Sounds very similar to the vanced installation. I might do this and keep NewPipe for subscribing to the really high quality channels and if google actually goes through with banning accounts that block adds I won’t be nearly as impacted :D

monerobull,

They’ve got revanced for twitter and tiktok? Not like I’m going to use those trash platforms but that’s still pretty cool. Thank you for the link!

monerobull,

Monero.town has a donation address and while you can prove you are human by linking an existing social media account during signup, you can also do this anonymously by donating a small amount of Monero. So far this model seems sustainable :)

Any VPNs comparable to IVPN and Mullvad by privacy, but also have port forwarding?

Since IVPN and Mullvad are both phasing out port forwarding, are there any alternatives? I am not looking for something like NordVPN which is a privacy nightmare. AirVPN is also not private enough considering I’ve seen reports online of ISPs sending out DMCA letters of gold to its users.

monerobull,

IVPN, takes Monero and still has port forwarding.

monerobull,

It was originally 1000 GE but 200 are reserved to call home to the CCP servers 😂
