Disco elysium is considered one of the best crpgs ever made. Be aware though, it’s devoid of combat and more in the vain of planescape torment (another great crpg that is focused on telling a story first and foremost). Disco Elysium should be worth 15 euro on its own in my opinion.

I would recommend to get a Fujitsu esprimo small form factor pc or a lenovo sff with an i5 6500 cpu. They sell used for less that 100 euros. Get a half size gpu (gtx 1650 or 1050 ti or amd rx 6400). And you will have a perfect pc for gaining in 1080p in your living room on the cheap. Those pcs are a good compromise for speed and size, any smaller and they will get way too hot. Also these are well build office PCs, that will run very quiet.
I would recommend pop_os as a distro. Its made for gaining and I use it as my daily driver.
Ich liebe ja meine unbeschichteten stahlpfannen (schmiedeeisen?). Einmal einbrennen mit Kartoffelschqlen und Salz (draußen, wenn man keine Industrieabzugshaube hat) und es brennt nichts mehr an. Die Dinger werden mich überdauern und man kann darin mit Stahl ohne Probleme rumkratzen.
Es gibt nur ein/ zwei Anbieter in Deutschland und bei Lidl wurden die mal für unter 20 Euro verkauft, die war baugleich mit meiner ersten. Hab mittlerweile 2 für zuhause und eine fürs campen und benutze nichts anderes mehr.
Man kann an der schuppenartigen Maserung erkennen, dass es sich um eine schmiedeeiserne Pfanne handelt. Gusseiserne Pfannen sind um einiges dickwandiger, wenn mich nicht alles täuscht. Die sind glaube ich auch um einiges teurer.

You could use that machine as your home server. It would open up a lot of possibilities. Sync your phone contacts and calendars, backup all your systems, store/stream media, host your own clousldserver, your own Internet messenger server for family and friends (snikket for example). Host a Minecraft server for the little ones or whatever comes to mind.

I host my own email on uberspace. It’s a vps where you pay what you think is appropriate per month. You can install whatever you want on the vps, but they have a very good tutorial page on how to set up services. Email among them. I set it up a couple of years ago and it just works. Email is kind of pre set up as well, so should be easy enough to get working. You can enable the spam filter as well. You can also set up alias emails for every account you open up with some other provider. I name them after that provider, for example: [email protected]
That way I always know where the spam is coming from and just delete the alias address if necessary.
I bougth the hl 5240 around ten years ago and still use the same drum. I buy ink powder every couple of years on eBay to refill it.
It will refuse to print every couple of thousand pages to force you to replace the drum, but that is just a kind of planned obsolecsence in form of an internal timer. I think some sort of thus shit will happen on every printer nowadays. It’s only purpose is to create a hole in your pocket and produces a lot of plastic waste.
I found a kind of konami code you can enter for this model to reset the drum counter on the interweb, though, so its not an issue for this model.
So before you buy check if such a code exists for the model you have chosen, before buying one that will waste your yltime and money.

You could try different brands of oatmilk. It might need some getting used to, but some brands actually taste pretty close to cowmilk. I favor a brand called no milk (available at lidl at least in Germany), which has some sort of fat added I think (it`s got 3.5 percent fat like milk). You might be able to find an equivalent over in the States.

Probably more people, then you think. WhatsApp is xmpp based (just made incompatible at some point). Also the chat Nintendo uses on their gaming consoles. Xmpp is a solid mature protocol that’s very lightweight. I use it every day running my own server to chat with my wife and daughter. Calls/ videocalls work brilliantly as well. I am a big fan.
