Hi, this update is mostly focused on some performance updates to Image rendering and memory management. I stripped out the old plugin I had doing this and am now handling things a bit more manually. Hopefully this should improve the experience of long scrolling sessions. I did refactor a lot so if you see any bugs here please...
Since the much earlier version of this app, the sidebar has been basically unusable, it almost completely freezes up anytime I do anything on it. Is there any fix for this? Is this a know issue? What’s going on?...
On beta (from the g play store) 1.0.144 I can’t zoom on pictures anymore. Pinch doesn’t work, double-tap neither. I’ve disabled all gestures/tap actions in case the touchscreen registered something wrongly....
I see you’re sorting by Hot, does this behaviour also happen if you sort by TopDay or another sort? There’s no caching going on for this list at the app level but I do cache the results so entering into a post is faster.

Hi, I think this is caused by a couple things. Lemmy has a ratelimit on the number of API requests you can send and also marking posts as read and a lot of filters cause the app to pull more since some content gets filtered out.
I think a possible solution from my side might be instead of sending the read calls right away (so quickly scrolling past everything will send a lot of API calls quickly) would be to queue them and release it in chunks.

Hi, the new colour picker has a bit more control when choosing a colour and also let’s you enter in hex codes to get the precise colour you’re looking for.
This is on version 141? Just to narrow down the issue does turning off ‘mark read on scroll’, ‘swipe gestures’, or changing to a list view have any effect? Just saying those 3 as they have the largest impact on memory.
Hi, if you add Elon to the list of filters under settings it will filter all posts containing that word. Or if you wanted to filter say all posts under communities that include the word elon that’s possible under community filters.
A better examples might be communities that include the word ‘meme’ because if I didn’t want to see that currently I would have to manually go in and block 287 communities (on lemmy.world).
This just as of 10 minutes ago from the writing of this post begun happening. I noticed the icon on my homepage changed, and that’s when the lag began happening. It fully freezes my phone for 10-20 seconds....
This should now be (mostly) fixed on 141. The markdown library I’m using makes some strong assumptions that a table cell will only have one element inside so for cells with two (a picture and text) it was breaking and wouldn’t render. I’ve patched it to just use the last element in a cell but ideally it does support multiple elements. I’ll try to get that fix into v142 tomorrow.

I was trying to edit a second comment (grrr autocorrect) in a thread I have previously edited a comment, but the app always loads the first comment I edited....
It would be nice to have an option that hides NSFW posts in the front page and all collections, so I can browse on the work wifi without causing issues. Then be able to browse through those specific channels at home with all the preloading on....
Ok that makes sense and thank you for the feedback. I’ll add a setting to change the ‘hide’ behaviour from always hiding to showing when you’re viewing a nsfw community.

Getting API error: temporarily_disabled whenever I try to view comments.
I haven’t been able to find any information about this error anywhere, so I’m hoping to find some help here....

When tapping on the image of a post from the post feed screen, user will frequently get a placeholder image rather than the image in question....

Connect stops loading additional comments in posts with very large numbers of comments / loads empty comment threads
This is a fairly persistent issue that appears to be exclusive to Connect, and extremely annoying....
